We were worried about sending our son off to college since his regular alarm clock never seemed to wake him. I'm not sure if the tone of the sonic alarm clock would have worked any better but the vibrating feature is working like a charm. In fact, I don't know that he even uses the alarm tone at all. I ordered the "Shake Awake" alarm clock because I regularly sleep through 3 different alarms that I set each night. Has it helped me wake up? Well, yes and no. The clock itself has a sleek design, but is not very functional. It stands tall on your dresser and looks nice, but when you hit the snooze alarm or try to turn it off or reset it, it always tips over. It even comes with a "stability" peg that you place in the back of the clock to help it stand up - obviously a design flaw that the company tried to correct after manufacturing, but it's not very sturdy. The large number display is great, especially in the middle of the night for those of us who wear glasses during the day but are blind as a bat when the glasses are off at night. The alarm itself is more annoying than loud. The "shake awake" part is actually pretty cool. The vibration definitely wakes me up. It would be nice if you could change the shake patterns - some nights continuous, other nights short bursts, sometimes both on other nights - but that is not an option. The shake awake disc actually gets pretty hot when it vibrates, so be sure to put it under your pillow and not inside your pajamas. We got this clock for my daughter who just left for college. It is big and bright, but doesn't take up a lot of room because it is so thin. It doesn't tip over because it has a little stand included in the packaging which you insert in the back of the clock. My daughter loves the vibrating disc that goes under her pillow. It definitely jolts her out of bed. The alarm itself is loud and we could hear it down the hall. The sound is adjustable for treble and bass and volume. This alarm clock works great. As a Disabled Vietnam vet, I take prescription medications that really knock me out at night; however, the extra-loud alarm sound, along with the shaking of the bed, wakes me out of the deepest sleep every morning. The large time display is easy enough to be clearly read even by those of us who are somewhat visually impaired. The only reason I didn't give the clock a rating of 5 is that, being all plastic and quite thin, the clock is somewhat flimsy and easy to knock over. Nonetheless, if you need something to wake you from a deep sleep in the morning, this is the alarm clock you need.Product Review: Sonic BOOOOOM!!

I love the alarm clock and it does get me up in the morning, I just wish it had a few more options and that it didn't look so cheap because it wasn't! I recommend this product to anyone who does want to piss off their roommate. Also, be prepared to wake up scared shitless the first morning or two after you set it up.
