Bought this for my 23 year old daughter who has hearing loss due to childhood infections, to replace the one she wore out years ago. She LOVES this alarm, especially the vibrating disc she places under her pillow. This alarm has NEVER FAILED wake up this sound sleeper!Product Review: sonic boom isn't what it used to be

this is a real disappointment for me. i'd seen some reviews complaining that this product breaks down too quickly. i had, however, already owned a sonic boom. i'd had it for 8 or 9 years and i was very happy with it, so i din't hesitate, despite the reviews, when it finally came time to replace it, especially since it was the same model (although they used to be black, not white). with in a week of using my new one, i noticed that the sounder on the alarm would begin to weeken within a few moments of sounding. about a week later the lamp and the vibrater ceased to work all together. i had intentions of returning it for a replacement, but in the meantime, a few days later the entire unit stopped working all together. now, there is one bright side to all my misery: i decided that before i returned it, i was going to call sonic alert and complain. i had a phone # on the product insert from my original unit and that happened to be the # for their corporate office (as opposed to their customer support center). I spoke to a staff member who was more than accomidating and helpful, and hopefully my complaints will be made known to the appropriate person. he sent me a brand new unit without requireing me to send the defective unit back, and promised to personally test the unit before shipping it. the service i received was personable and excellent. however, what's so disappointing is that obviously sonic alert no longer focuses on producing a quality, built-to-last product as they once did in the past. it's a shame because the sonic boom is an extremely effective product for those who have difficulty being woken up. with that being said, i should point out that this unit comes with a 5 year warranty, and that i have not yet had any trouble with the replacement they sent me a few weeks ago. i just wish i could tell you all with confidence that this product will last you close to a decade like my original model did.Product Review: why the alarm off button?!?!

If this clock did not have an "alarm off" near the snooze alarm I'd rate it a five. It does not need this feature because there is a switch on the side that accomplishes the same. Occaisionally, I finally figured out, I was hitting this small button while fumbling for the snooze button and thus missing out on being awake at the correct time. Not deaf -just a.m. impaired. Also, after one time knocking it on the floor the light feature didn't work anymore. Since I'd had it for a while by that time, I was philosophical.
