Much better than old-fashoioned pins. These are very easy to use (just like the clips that hold on an ace bandage, only gentler), and we've been on the same three for almost three months. I forget what the average lifespan is supposed to be, but they are cheap and easy to replace. Some friends have had them tear up their prefolds just a bit, but we haven't had this problem with our unbleached indian prefolds.
