This stuff works as promised. The taste is better than if you drink it out of the can. The pre-mixed can stuff tastes like the can in my opinion. This stuff tastes like chocolate milk with just a very slight mineral taste after. Very good for a diet shake. I've tried a lot of shakes, and I found one that actually tastes decent, has a enough protein to quench hunger, and will mix acceptably in a hand shaker. I like this one...but one problem. I was getting intolerably ILL after drinking it -- it took a long time to connect the dots.
I spent over 3 months using the product, but would intermittently (2 out of every 3 times on average) have severe cramps and chest pains, bloating of the abdomen and severe gas and even a 24-hour hospitalization and subsequent endoscopy. I finally connected the dots on the problem though constant changes in diet, it was the only constant.
I found out recently there is only one other thing I can't stand besides Liberals, Hippies, and Communists -- and that would be LACTOSE. This shake is chock full of it....which isn't a problem for most of the beer-drinking, red meat-eating American public, unless you happen to have recently developed an unknown case of lactose intolerance.
I give the product 2 stars instead of 5 because I believe the manufacturer should be more forthcoming about the lactose content per serving. I think they should also do better in the Amazon product description and on the Unilever website. It wouldn't have helped me because I had no idea, but it might help someone who has lactose issues steer clear of it. I'll simply have to avoid Slim-Fast in the future. It may work for you though, as mentioned, it was a good tasting product, it I give it kudos for that.
