I've known since I was a child that gargling with saltwater can help a sore throat, sometimes much more effectively than over-the-counter drugs can do. The notion of these handy, individually sized doses is a clever and practical one.
In practice, however, they're much less practical. Sure, it's convenient to carry these portable doses in a pocket or bag, but they're so hard to open that you end up spilling a good portion of the dose on your hands, your clothes or, if you're lucky, the floor. Also, the saltwater has an unpleasant plastic flavor to it that makes gargling even more unpleasant than usual.
So, is the convenience of the individual packaging outweigh the inconvenience of opening it and the bad taste? For me, no. I'm sure plenty of people will feel otherwise, however -- after all, modern marketing convinced us to buy bottled water, right? Saltwater is the next logical step.

When Seattle's long winter drizzle sets in, the damp & cold often creates a constant nasal drip that can leave my throat slightly sore for weeks on end. Through Amazon's Vine program I got a chance to try Simply Gargle and found it works as advertised. Used consistently, it did seem to clear up the congestion. I highly recommend giving it a try. And if you travel by air or if your work exposes you to large numbers of people, it seems likely this product would also protect against infection by washing away germs before they could establish themselves in your throat.
One suggestion. The first time I tried it, I squirted the entire contents of one packet into my mouth at once and found that Simply Gargle was also Almost Gagging. It may just be me, but I can't gargle an entire packet at one time. If I gargled less strongly, the liquid triggered my gag reflex. If I gargled strong enough to get rid of the gaging, I was spraying my bathroom mirror. The solution was simple. Use only one squirt from the packet and save the rest for later. If you're not on the go and can store it standing up, one packet will last all day. The maker might consider marketing it in a small, reusable container that could be resealed like a tiny sport water bottle.

"Simply Gargle Salt Water Rinse" combines the cold remedies of salt water gargle and vitamin C as well as a variety of other herbs to provide a soothing relief from sore throats. This stuff works for me and my daughter. It indeed helps a sore throat to go away much sooner and prevents it from developing into something worse. The gargle comes in individually sealed small disposable plastic pouches that is easy to carry around. I definitely recommend it and would buy and use it again in the future.
Still, the product could benefit from a taste improviement, if possible: it has a very concentrated salty-and-bitter taste. Also, the twist-off tip requires some effort and several spins to remove.

Pay money for salt water? Makes starbucks look like a good deal? Actually, these are a good deal. Salt water is a wonderful remedy for many thoat conditions. You don't hear about it because the drug companies can't make big money from it, and they want to sell you patent stuff for sore thoats. But ask a nurse or a good doctor. At home you can have a glass of salt and water, but these packs let me take this mixture everywhere. Good design and construction. All the added ingredients can't hurt, and *may* do some good. But the convenience of this non-drowsey cure that works is the main selling point.Product Review: Wow

Amazon Vine just offered this to me just at the right time. I just caught a cold and This is a great product. This has really helped me clear my throat and nasal passages. I'd recommend this to anyone with a cold or allergies who could use a little assistance with their coughing, throat and nasal problems. Great product
