Product Reviews of Simply Gargle Salt Water Rinse, 0.4-Ounce Ampules in 12-Count Boxes pack of 3

Product Review: Simply Gargle
Summary: 5 Stars

I don't like the taste, however, I do like the results. I would highly recommend this product during the winter months hopefully to avoid the colds from others. It's suppose to help defend us from those who are suffering colds.

Product Review: Simply Gargle Is Simply Convenient
Summary: 5 Stars

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
This review will give you one thing you can't learn by reading reviews or online research only. But more about that later. Here's what I love:
1. Convenient, single-use packets.
2. The packets will pass through airport searches if you but put them into a Baggie.
3. They contain more than just salt. Echinacea, grape seed extract and vitamin C, as an example, are items I'd carry with me anyway. This puts them all in one place.
4. If you're serious about protecting yourself from disease when you travel, this product is a must. That dry, germ-ridden airplane air, you know?
5. The only thing I don't like about the product: It might be a bit difficult for arthritics to twist the tab off to use.

So about that part that you can't get from reviews. It tastes at least as good as any mouthwash, maybe better. It's kind of sagey.

Product Review: Simply Gargle Simply Works
Summary: 5 Stars

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
The product arrived at the perfect time; it was waiting for me at my office after a Thanksgiving week spent struggling with laminate flooring ("easy to install" my a**!), stirring up decades worth of allergens while removing the old carpeting, exchanging airborne pathogens with already sick family members, and gently advising my little ones to "STAY AWAY FROM THE SAW!" My throat was terribly sore, and though somewhat dubious about the product's claims, I was out of sick days and ready to try ANYTHING.

And it WORKED!

I found the product easy to use and astonishingly soothing, frankly more soothing than the salt water gargles I mix myself. I've gone from regarding this as a frivolous product for the Rich and Lazy to a Necessity that I'll keep stockpiled at my office and haul with me on all future trips. (The fully labeled 0.4 oz. ampules should pose no difficulty in air travel.) Other formulations are available: Simply Gargle Salt Water Rinse, Allergy and Hayfever, 12 Single Use Doses (Pack of 3), Simply Gargle Salt Water Rinse, Cold and Flu, 12 Single Use Doses (Pack of 3), and Simply Gargle Salt Water Rinse, Night-Time Formula, 0.4-Ounce Ampules in 12-Count Boxes (Pack of 3), differing only in the herbal ingredients, but that may be more specialization than most people need.

Note: A number of reviewers have reported trouble opening the ampules; based on my experience this might be due to skimming the instructions. The ampules ARE easy to open but not very intuitive. Unless you habitually rip phonebooks in half, you can forget about "tearing off" the tips; you must instead, as instructed, "twist off" the tips by turning the arrow tip in half turns clockwise or counterclockwise until the plastic tears back from the slits, and it comes off in your hand. (For some reason if you are experiencing difficulty with a given ampule it may work better to reverse your usual direction and twist it off in the opposite direction.) If you have the hand strength to twist it half a turn and hold the tip until you reposition your fingers for the next half turn, you can open this product.

Note: Some reviewers have mentioned how they prefer their salt water gargles heated. Well, if you have access to a heating element and a safe cup for same, you can have your gargle heated as desired, too. Simply squirt your opened ampule into the cup and heat it to preference. Just be sure NOT to heat the ampule!

Note: Some reviewers have complained about the taste. They might want to try the other formulations to see if they can find one more to their liking.

Product Review: Soothing and convenient
Summary: 4 Stars

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
Some have complained about the strange taste of these porta-packets of throat ease gargle. Personally, I found the flavor to be tolerable - a definite salt water base but with scattered, pleasant notes of herbal essences lingering throughout.

This past weekend I awoke to a hoarse and irritated throat after shouting most of the previous night at a football game and actually looked forward to putting this product to the test. Lo and behold I found that this gargle rinse did help to soothe my throat. Later that night I used it again before retiring to bed. I am pleased to report that I awoke the next morning with a throat back to normal.

The best thing about these packets is the sheer convenience. The compact, efficient design makes for easy storage in your glove-compartment, backpack, purse, etc. I definitely will carry a few with me during the cold season.

Product Review: Soothing solution for sore throats
Summary: 5 Stars

Fall brings with it cooler temperatures and seasonal allergies for me. From about October to Thanksgiving, I wake up part of the time with a slightly dry, sore throat.

The first remedy I knew for sore throats was the salt-water rinse my Mother used to make for me. I never had a recipe and what I mixed up, never quite worked as well as what she did for me. Maybe it was that Mom's secret ingredient--or just knowing she'd mixed it up made me feel better.

Over the last several years, I've abandoned the salt-water rinse in favor of throat-coating teas, but when Vine offered this product, I thought it might be worth a try. No--I don't get the warm fuzzy feeling that I got from knowing my Mom mixed up a gargle for me, but the preparation really does help ease the tension and the burn in my throat and the herbs provide something of a soothing effect for longer than just the time I'm gargling.

Best, I can take the individual packets with me in my purse or car and have them whenever I need something to soothe an aching throat. No guessing at the recipe, etc. And--having the gargle packaged individually prevents me from re-infecting myself inadvertently by using the same glass. This is a very good and healthful idea.
