Product Reviews of Simply Gargle Salt Water Rinse, 0.4-Ounce Ampules in 12-Count Boxes pack of 3

Product Review: Handy enough
Summary: 4 Stars

The tab doesn't twist off easily, at least not completely; but twisting does open the package enough, with some spillage. Perhaps I'm just not doing it right, but it looked like it would be easier. Squeeze into mouth and gargle ... not unpleasant tasting, and leaves a slight numbness, though some soreness remains.

What can be said? It's a handy way to carry around a salt gargle (with witch hazel and other ingredients) to keep up with gargling treatments for sore throats, with are (at least to me) a pain to mix.

Product Review: IT REALLY WORKS
Summary: 5 Stars

Was up late at night with a persistant sore throat. Found this item and ordered online. I was able to use it at work the next day about 5 times and it was great. It felt as if my grandmother was in the kitchen stirring up a gargle mix with salt and water. I guess the added herbs in the formula worked.

Product Review: Interesting product, but definitely not novel

My mother has told me since I was small, to gargle with salt water when sick. Thus, I was pleasantly surprised to see this Simply Gargle Rinse product. However, I wouldn't be able to justify spending $[...] on this item, when I could just mix up some salt and water myself. The only advantage that this would have would be in convenience and portability for those on travel or at work, but it's also very easy to grab a salt packet and some water, and gargle in the bathroom.

The rinse comes in small plastic 'envelopes' that have an easy twist off top- I would estimate each container to hold no more than a few oz. of liquid. I was personally hoping for a bit more in each. The color of the liquid is like that of urine- I'm not sure why though. They claim that rosemary and other herbal extracts are also added, but frankly, I couldn't tell over the extreme saltiness of the solution.

I did have a bit of a sore throat due to a contagion going around the office this week, and after taking the salt water gargle, my throat did feel better the next day. However, there could be other confounding factors, such as the fact that I had a nice long sleep that evening, so I'm not certain of the efficacy of the product. Placebo effect possibly, who knows?

In conclusion, I wouldn't really recommend spending $[...] on this when you can get the same for pennies out of your sink and salt dispenser.

Product Review: It's "Simply" Handy

Simply Gargle Salt Water Rinse has two things going for it: a) a nice combination of herbs and vitamins in addition to being a salt water rinse and b) convenient packaging. Most folks agree that salt water rinses work, so I'm not going to waste a lot of time on that aspect of this product. It soothes your irritated throat, simply put. The addition of Vitamin C, Rose Hips extract, Grape Seed extract, Witch Hazel extract, Rosemary extract and Sage extract are what sets this product apart from your average salt water concoction. All of these ingredients are antioxidants or astringents, which gives you more than just a salty taste in your mouth after gargling. The packets that this rinse comes in are easy to carry with you to work and/or just about anywhere else. They are discreet and very convenient to use.

The only hang-up that I have about this product is the taste. Yes, I know that it's a salt water rinse, but the taste is rather biting. It's a small price to pay for the usefulness and convenience of the product, though. Overall, I highly recommend Simply Gargle for anybody who's throat is irritated due to coughing or soreness.

Product Review: It's all about the packaging

Simply Gargle is an interesting idea; a portable package that has a pre-mixed salt water solution that will allow you to take it with you to gargle on the run. Since the main idea here is the portable package, I will comment on that first. The package is small and looks neat, but that's where the positives stop. Some of the packets split in transit and spilled their contents which doesn't bode well for carrying this around in your bag. The next challenge with the package was that it was hard to open. Since there is fluid in the pouch you want to be able to open the package without squeezing, well that was easier said than done. Even though it is a twisting action to open it, you still need a firm grip. Lastly the packaging might look nice, but it had sharp edges, not enough to cut you, but enough that you didn't want to put it in a pocket. All in all the packaging was a disappointment.

Next was the actual solution. This might be a personal preference, but I really didn't like the taste. I used this when I had a cold and the taste made feel a little nauseous; not a good thing when you are feeling sick! I can't attest to restorative power of the solution, it seemed to be as effective as salt water.

Personally I will stick to salt water, but I gave 2 stars for an interesting idea even if it was poorly executed.
