Product Reviews of Simply Gargle Salt Water Rinse, 0.4-Ounce Ampules in 12-Count Boxes pack of 3

Product Review: Effective and convenient
Summary: 4 Stars

This is an unusual product, but a very clever one. As a person who used to have chronic tonsillitis, I know the value of gargling with salt water. I wish I'd had these about 10 years ago. The little containers take a bit of effort to open, but that's good because you don't want them coming open in your purse, pocket or desk drawer. They're a unique blend of herbs and salt in water, so the taste is unusual - not bad, but not what I expected. The important thing is that they really work. Use one the minute you feel a sore throat coming on, and it heals your throat immediately. I'll keep these around from now on in my bathroom and in my travel bag. The combination of convenience and effectiveness makes these little packets indispensable.

Product Review: Gargling salt into wounds

I am convinced that using this product as recommended saved me from a more prolonged and painful throat and sinus infection. The small (barely 3" long x .5" thick), easy-to-use, and single-use packets allow dosing wherever and whenever you need it. The plastic-tab top simply twists off to allow a strong stream of solution to be squirted directly into the back of your throat. I stored mine in the fridge so that I could get the added benefit of cold relief, but room temp is the normal delivery.

Besides soothing my raw, ailing throat, I felt this salt solution also mitigated the sour, bad breath that usually accompanies sore throats and nasty, draining sinuses.

Simply Gargle is a simply practical and effective product.

Product Review: Good concept that needs better packaging

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
Awhile back, during a particularly bad cold season in Minnesota, my family had a small medical epiphany. My mom had a conversation with a fellow health care worker who mentioned that drugs aside, the best way to feel better faster was to simply use saline water--do a quick gargle or nasal rinse and you'll feel better without experiencing that "spaced out" feeling you get from using cold medicine. It worked for many of us, and I gained a new appreciation for home remedies.

So I was thrilled to see these little packages of pre-mixed saline you could take with you to work, keep stashed away in the house or bring with you while you travel. The concept is simple: open the personal-sized packet, gargle with the enriched saline solution and dispose. Great idea. You don't have to worry about mixing salt water at the office, and the saline with botanicals did a great job with my sore throat.

The problem is in the packaging, which hopefully can be tweaked easily. The basic design is a firm plastic pouch that you rip open at one end. In making the pouch rugged enough to resist punctures or premature tears (face it, who wants salty botanical water exploding in their pocket?), the top was nearly impossible to rip open by hand, even with the notches to get you started. A scissors worked fine to cut them open, but having to go that route made these things far less convenient to use.

Other than that, a good, simple system to get you back on your feet without drugging yourself into a stupor.

Product Review: Good gargle, but hard to open

I received the Simply Gargle product a few weeks ago, and have been trying it ever since. It does exactly what it says; after gargling, my throat feels better afterward. It's easy to use, convenient, portable. It also doesn't taste nearly as bad as salt water alone, and is more soothing than salt water alone as well. All good.

Only problem is, you need a knife or something similar (a scissors, maybe?) to open the packets. I'm a strong person and I really have trouble opening these things because of how tough the plastic is.

I'd recommend this to anyone in the grip of an allergic attack or anyone with chronic asthma (as I have); it does seem to help, although the help may be palliative in nature. (Still, help is help.)

Four stars.

Product Review: Handy and compact...it's a gargle in a packet.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
The question most people have is: What does it really do and will it work? Well, everyone has gargled with salt water before at the hiint of a sore throat, and this has that and added things. As a friend of mine who tried a packet put it, "It is the gnarliest thing she ever put in her mouth". As in...she thought it tasted horrible. Another person I let try it said it helped his sore throat. I personally think it works ok...it does taste...different, but if I have a sore throat and want some relief if I'm at work, this fits the bill. I like the packets, which allow you to have sore throat relief in your desk or car. I'd like to see how they fare when you have a nasty sore throat. So far, not bad at all, if you don't mind a funky gargle in a packet.
