Sure I can make my own saltwater gargle, but this is one very convenient product. I keep some in my desk at work and in my travel case so when I am out and about, I can still gargle when needed. It tastes pretty good and contains vitamin C, Grape Seed Extract, Rosemary Extract, rose Hips Extract, Witch Hazel Extract and Sage Extract. A super convenient product.

This product continues with the age-old concept of relieving throat symptoms by gargling with salt water rinse.
THEORY:
The concept about salt being an effective agent:
1. Salt is a natural cleanser and helps eliminate bacteria that causes the infection as well as remove substances such as mucus.
2. Water follows salt. Salt draws the swelled area due from infection away and onto the surface.
The thing is the concept of salt seems to work. Simply Gargle Salt Water Rinse has made it very convenient by packing the solution in a well-sealed, sturdy packet that you can bring anywhere.
HOW TO USE:
I thought at first this small packet contains the mixture which you will have to get access to water. It turns out that this is exactly the solution already. All you have to do is break open the tab and pour it in your mouth. You simply gargle this measured amount of liquid already and spit out. That's it. No mixing. No fuss.
PRICE:
The quality of the the packaging gives confidence in bringing this with you without fear of piercing or breaking of the container. In fact you will need strength in tearing open the tab (which is a good thing to prevent misuse with smaller children). I wouldn't mind paying more for this kind of caution.
To make the product more interesting than a simple salt water solution they infuse it with more ingredients such as Vitamin C, grape seed extract, rosemary extract, rose hips extract, witch hazel extract, sage extract. Whether or not it works along with the product in relieving the sore throat symptoms may be as eyebrow raising as the salt solution itself. In any case it does of course help create "added value" to the product and therefore the price.
WELL...:
Apart from having an obvious salty mixture, the added ingredients give out another weird taste that is hard to describe. You will have to try it to actually know if you can stand it.
But it's really not that bad. There is only a slight after-taste and it doesn't last long.
FINALLY:
Whether or not it does work will have to depend on the multitude of users who try the product and believe that the original salt solution of yesteryear did it's job.
Product Review: Convenient and effective-- but you pay for both Summary: 4 Stars

These little packets of premixed saltwater and herb gargles are definitely convenient. There's no mess at all and not even a glass and spoon to wash. They'd be particularly convenient at work or while traveling. The one inconvenient thing is that the little plastic tab you twist off to open the packet is pretty stout; you might have to use scissors on it.
Does it work? Sure, to the extent that gargling with saltwater soothes a sore throat. It seems to cool things down a little. That "gargling with saltwater" needs a qualification. This stuff doesn't taste salty, as in pretzel salty; rather, it tastes salty as in chemistry class salty. I found the taste odd and vaguely unpleasant, though not horrible. Your reaction may well be different.
Is it worth the price? I don't know. It's convenient, and it works OK, but at Amazon's price, each packet will cost you about 48 cents. You're paying for the convenience, and you'll have to decide how much that's worth to you.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
Simply Gargle is an attractively packaged, single serving salt water rinse that can be easily carried in pocket or purse to use on-the-go to help calm an irritated throat. My first problem with this product is shared by many other reviewers; that it, the small plastic container holding the salt water rinse is extremely difficult to open. I quit wrestling with the package and simply cut off the top with a small scissors. I dumped the contents into a glass and gargled. For me, the contents were not quite enough for use so I cut open another package and squeezed that into the glass. Now I did have enough for a good test of the product.
The taste was mildly salty with hints of herbs that was pleasant enough for this type of rinse. After gargling for thirty seconds, I spit the rinse into the sink and was left with a slightly salty mouth feel which was not unpleasant, but I decided to flush this with a cold glass of water. Even after the water flush, I could still taste salt on my tongue.
I have concluded that the costs are greater than the benefits for Simply Gargle and will not continue using this product.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
Walking dogs in freezing weather the last couple days hasn't been that good on the immune system and my throat started to get a little tingly so I figured it would be a good time to try a Simply Gargle Salt Water Rinse. It is as easy as you imagine it would be, twist off the cap and pour into your mouth. The instant taste is definately something to get used to and lives up to the salty title. But at least the aftertaste doesn't last that long. Five minutes and I forgot all about how it tasted. Other than the taste, my biggest complait is that it is harder than you think to gargle for the recommended 15-30 seconds. But the good news is the tingle is gone. The package itself seems durable enough that you can throw some in your pocket or purse and not worry about it ruptuting unless some blunt trama. Very useful if you are one to not let a cold keep you in bed and are still on the go.
