I purchased 2 of these units for a new home we've moved into 2 weeks ago. Like most I first experienced the curved shower rod in a hotel and was impressed with the extra room (not having to "fight the curtain.") Our showers are enclosed in ceramic tile. I had never drilled into ceramic before and it required thought and preparation. You will need a special drill bit, I bought a collection of 4 Ryobi bits from Home Depot (the bit performed well). Score the tile first. Line up the drill and go to town. It is slow going, be patient. The bit will heat up very quickly (I suggest you count to 15 and stop). To save time have a small tub of water to dunk the bit into, it will cool almost immediately. Dry it and get back to drilling. I said earlier, be patient it is time consuming. Once the holes have been drilled the rest is quick and straight forward (the directions are clear).
The finished product is aesthetically pleasing and does the job. The kids love the increased area behind the curtain. There seems to be a 40-50% increase in volume. We put stainless steel shower curtain hooks with small roller beads (WalMart), complementing the brushed nickle of the rod.
WalMart sells a curved shower rod, similar to this design. It was about the same cost, sans sales tax.
In summary - great product, increases the effective size of the shower, NOT a 10 minute job, probably an hour per rod. Well worth the expense and effort. You will probably need the 78" liner, if you use one. The 72" will be too short.
