I've had one of these for several years, and I simply cannot live without it. I live alone and have a lot of shoulder, neck and upper back pain ever since an accident 20 years ago. This helps me work knots out and keep them at bay. Love it!

Description of Shiatsu Aid Massage Board

Shiatsu, "finger pressure," is based on ancient Oriental principles of medicine. Whereas massage therapy was concerned with proper functioning of the muscles, blood, and lymphatic system, osteopathic and chiropractic systems of treatment were concerned mainly with the proper alignment of the skeletal structure, particularly the spinal vertebrae, and with the proper functioning of the autonomic nervous system which affects the internal organs. Japanese Shiatsu therapy incorporates many modern chiropractic as well as traditional Amma principles, especially the emphasis on the acupressure points known as tsubo. Since Shiatsu Aid provides quick relaxation of the back and causes greater blood flow to the internal organs and away from the brain, it may induce sleepiness. While it is helpful to those who suffer from insomnia, one should avoid falling asleep on the Shiatsu Aid. Four design combinations should be sufficient for general relaxation. One for lower and middle back, one for the upper back, one for the shoulders and one for the head. When using the Shiatsu Aid, start at the lower back and inch the board upward to the head, changing the designs as desired. Stay no more than two to four minutes on one spot when sensitive. Using a firm pillow under the head or hip will lighten the weight of the body on the board. Shiatsu Aid may be used two or three times a day, such as a very short time in the morning upon waking, once after work,, and once at night just before retiring. If you have a chronic, inflamed condition of the muscles, you may experience some pain when first using Shiatsu Aid. Place a folded towel over the knobs at first, and adjust them if necessary. Stay on the board. Let yourself go, relax, love the deeply. The discomfort should vanish. You may, in fact, experience relaxation bordering on drowsiness with the massage of the head and back.
