Product Reviews of Seventh Generation Laundry Detergent, White Flower & Bergamot Citrus, Powder, 112-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 4)Product Review: Nice fragrance, great powder, designed for High Efficiency washers Summary: 5 Stars
I am on the second batch of this laundry detergent because I love it. 5 stars for a pleasing and light fragrance, 5 stars for clothes coming out clean and fresh, and 5 stars for helping save the environment through high efficiency washing.
The Seventh Generation products have appealed to me because of their "biodegradability". That's not a real word, but it describes their line perfectly. From their paper towels, to toilet paper, to washing detergent, I feel pretty confident that I'm doing my part to make things better.
This detergent has a pleasing scent of Bergamot Citrus and White Flower. It's not overpowering, and my clothes come out smelling fresh, not like perfume. I have also noticed that if I leave the clothes in the wash for a while (sometimes I do forget) that they still come out smelling fresh and not mouldy.
This product also gets clothes clean in any temperature of water. If you want to save hot water, warm or tap cold will do just fine for your clothes with this powder.
I should also point out that this powder does not sud like normal powders, but it still gets your clothes completely clean.
Finally, this is high efficiency stuff. You're going to use a smaller amount of powder even for a large batch of clothes, and it's perfectly designed for front loading washers. This is where the "he" logo comes in. You'll see that on products that are specially designed for high efficiency washers, which includes most front loading models.
This product also comes in unscented for those who might prefer that, however, I think you'll enjoy how the bergamot citrus and white flower make your clothes, and your entire laundry room smell fresh.
enjoy!
Product Review: Organic Detergent Summary: 4 Stars
Seventh Generation is a great perfume free detergent. My only complaint is that for heavily soiled items, this detergent doesn't perform as well.
Product Review: Works OK, not a great product though Summary: 3 Stars
We have been using this detergent for about a year now (bought using subscribe and save, which is awesome for the discount and convenience). We prefer detergents with no dyes and fragrances as well as being environmentally smart. We have used in two different HE, front-loading washers.
Positives:
+ Works fine for normally soiled clothes
+ No dyes or perfumes so no skin irritation
+ Great for environment
+ Great for septic systems
Negatives:
- Does not perform well in cold for front-loading washers where the water has to mix it in the tray then circulate. If you use cold water, you'll probably end up with a solid cake of about half the detergent placed in it at the end of the cycle meaning time to re-wash.
- Not being able to effectively use cold is counter to environmentally friendly.
- The detergent cakes into large lumps in the box after a few weeks making it a pain to scoop and use. I understand this is part of being environmentally friendly, but there has to be an anti-caking agent that works.
Product Review: a little goes a long way Summary: 5 Stars
I really like this detergent, not only is it good for the environment, which is a good reason to buy alone because the packaging is recycable and you don't have to worry about this stuff poluting the groundwater and doing other nasty things to our environment. I find that you only need a little over an 1/8th cup. If you have an extra large load or very soiled clothes then you might need a little more, but it takes us quite a long time to get through a 4 pack. Not sure exactly but approx. 5-6 months maybe more. I find that if you soak your clothes a bit that will also help get rid of stains. This really is a good buy. Try it.
Product Review: clean! Summary: 5 Stars
This detergent does the job! You don't need much and it cleans as well as any other detergent but much more envirollment friendly!
