Product Reviews of Seventh Generation Laundry Concentrate, Blue Eucalyptus & Lavender, 50-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 6)Product Review: Fresh and effective Summary: 4 StarsSeventh Generation laundry detergent gets my clothes clean. The "blue eucalyptus & lavender" scent, while I don't really *like* it, I don't dislike it either. It is still a fresh smell, even if it doesn't suit *my* taste that well. I guess it's just a little more on the eucalyptus and less on the lavender than I was expecting.
The 50-ounce bottle claims to wash 32 loads. Okay, so that means about 1.5 ounces per load. I *carefully* read the directions, and it says to fill the cap up to the line marked "1" for normal loads (more for big loads and so on). I look in the cap, and I see a line marked "5", a line marked "3", and a couple of faint scratches. After applying more light to the situation (which meant leaving the laundry room), I was able to make out the "4" and "1" lines (but not "2"). The "1" line is really hard to see because it is about where the outer part of the cap connects to that inner part. Not that there is anything in the directions to indicate what the other lines are for, anyway. But I guess this really isn't any different than other brands.
Bottom line: I filled the cap to line "1", the product worked effectively, and my clothes are clean.
Product Review: Great Product! Summary: 5 StarsMy wife and I are both thrilled with this laundry detergent. It has a very pleasant scent, it is concentrated (thus good for the environment), and most important of all it cleans the clothes very well. My only reservation is that if you are not a fan of the smell of lavender, you will hate this detergent. Since my wife is English, we both appreciate that wonderful scent... Try this stuff and you will be a fan!!!
Product Review: Can't tell the difference from Tide Summary: 5 StarsI think laundry soap is one of the products that you do not notice until it does not work. I can say that I have yet to notice the Seventh Generation product not work! All of our stains have been removed and our clothes have come out smelling fresh!
Laundry detergent has a well-known reputation as being environmentally unfriendly due to the phosphates that are employed to "clean" our clothes. Phosphates have a variety of environmental short-comings, but they are primarily known to be responsible for algae blooms in water. They are also derivatives of oil products - while I don't think that our addiction to oil is caused by laundry detergent switching to a non-petroleum based cleaner certainly could not hurt.
My final opinion is that using the Seventh Generation laundry detergent will not solve all of the world's environmental problems... but it is a small step in the right direction. It also will leave your clothes clean and smelling fresh...so what do you have to lose?
Product Review: Good, but a bit pricey for this bargain shopper... Summary: 4 StarsSeventh Generation delivers as promised with this laundry soap, but like I said in the headline, this product is a but pricey for me. However, I am the kind of shopper that likes to wait for the big sale and buy enough laundry soap to last until the next big sale. So, with that in mind let me review the product itself...
-This soap does not suds up a lot but it does get the job done. I decided to give it a real workout after dirtying up a set of clothes doing yardwork. Everything came out just as clean as they would have with the better known (and not as ecologically friendly) national brand that I normally use.
-the bottle is designed for HE or regular washers. If you do not have an HE washer you will be using a bottle fairly quickly (but keep in mind that I am a self-proclaimed cheapskate when it comes to my detergent).
-The scent is very mild, which is a plus for some, especially for those who buy unscented soaps due to a sensitivity.
Product Review: Blue Eucalyptus and Lavender Scent in a Dye Free "Green" Detergent Summary: 4 StarsThough I like scented cleaning products the rest of my family prefers scent free so when I first smelled this quite fragrent detergent I thought I'd only be able to wash my own clothes with it. The good news for scent free lovers is the rather flowery odor does not linger on washed laundry though it does perfume the laundry room while washing. Of course that is also the bad news for those of us who enjoy a bit of a pleasant scent on our clean clothes.
Aside from the scent issues this is a decent natural laundry detergent which will get your clothes clean. I personally would prefer larger bottles since even though the liquid is concentrated with as much laundry as I do the bottles have to be recycled pretty quickly.
