Product Reviews of Seventh Generation Automatic Dishwasher Powder, Free & Clear, 75-Ounces Boxes, Case Pack, (Pack of 8)Product Review: Doesn't dissolve in our washer Summary: 1 Stars
Hi, we used this powder several times and it doesn't dissolve in our washer, no matter what cycle mode we pick. Leaves a hard-to-remove white residue on glass, plastic, etc..
Product Review: Environmentally Friendly, Excellent Cleaning Power Summary: 5 Stars
I originally purchased this item because it was safe for the environment. I am accustomed to using Shaklee products but thought I would give Seventh Generation a try. It works WONDERFULLY, especially when you consider that there aren't any harsh abrasives or dioxins doing the cleaning for you. I have not found a single spot on a single dish. I definitely recommend this product.
Product Review: Environmentally Wonderful Summary: 5 Stars
Everything else aside, this product does not have any chlorine or phosphates. That means no dioxins in the environment and no phosphate pollution leaving the sewage treatment plants creating dead zones in the oceans. The only drawback, if you can call it that, is it won't bleach coffee and tea stains out of one's cups. A few strokes with a dish brush and they are gone. Not hard at all. If you care about our children's future this stuff should be mandatory.
Product Review: Etches Plastics Summary: 2 Stars
Every time I run my dishwasher with one of the major brands of dishwasher detergent, my son has an asthma attack. First, I tried the Seventh Generation powdered dishwasher detergent. My son didn't have asthma attacks with it, but it etched my plastics badly. Then I tried the Seventh Generation Lemon gel. It does not cause my son to have asthma attacks and it doesn't etch my plastics. I definitely recomend the gel. I have recently started using the Seventh Generation Laundry detergent, and I like that, too.
Product Review: GREAT PRODUCT, BAD PACKAGING! Summary: 4 Stars
Cleans my dishes just fine. Occasional residue, small price to pay.
Hopefully they'll do something about how they pack the very heavy shipping box. The eight boxes of detergent were packed inside a simple cardboard box with no padding, so when my shipment arrived, powder was spilling out of one damaged corner of it, and when I opened it carefully I found that TWO of my eight detergent boxes had been smashed open and powder was spilling out of them. One of the two boxes is torn beyond usability. I'll have to put the powder in something else, now, and I don't have any container that is large enough and reliable enough for the job, so I'll probably have to go out and buy one.
ALSO, don't be fooled by the dotted line printed around the sides of the shipping box with arrows pointing to it on all four sides and the words "Open here to display." Do NOT open this end unless you're working in a supermarket; it's meant to allow you to cut off the bottom of the shipping box and lift it off the detergent boxes so that they will be standing upright. They are NOT "this end up" arrows; your boxes will be upside-down and powder will spill out of the little metal spouts as you remove them. The "this end up" label is ONLY printed on the top of the shipping box and is therefore easy to miss.
It's obvious my shipment was dropped, tossed, or otherwise handled roughly. Any person who is familiar with shipping in the U.S. knows that this is a possibility. Printing "do not drop" on a box does nothing to prevent it from being dropped. Until this is handled, buyer beware.
Great product, though.
