Product Reviews of Sea Band Adult (Colors May Vary)Product Review: Anti nausea Bands Summary: 5 Stars
These are super bands...used them in Bar Harbor, Maine on a fishing boat trip and I never even got queasy....have to be sure to get them put in the right spot with the bead sitting toward your skin for the accupressure points 2 1/2 to 3 fingers width away from wrist.....keep them in my purse at all times for even car sickness or dizziness. The captain on the boat knew what he was talking about.
Product Review: DO NOT WORK! Summary: 1 Stars
They didn't work for me. I'm pregnant and these bands didn't help me at all with morning sickness... by the contrary, they just hurt my wrists despite I have small ones. There are many other things that can help against nausea which can be more effective, accessible, natural, and much cheaper... just as ginger and vitamin B6!
Product Review: Definitely Recommended Summary: 5 Stars
I'm wildly susceptible to motion sickness, and I purchased these mainly for everyday use while carpooling with others. It came to me recommended by a family member who used it successfully on a cruise.
Pros:
- It works! For the most part, upon putting them on, within 5-10 minutes I'll suddenly realize I haven't been nauseous in a while. It works gradually but very quickly. The various close friends and family who drive me around have also noted that I have less complaints both about being sick and about their driving. ;)
- It's preventative. You can't expect it to work miracles, but if I'm consistent about putting them on before getting in a car, I don't get any bouts of nausea.
- No side effects. Virtually none whatsoever.
- They're very discreet. They're tiny, hard to see when you wear them, and they come in a perfectly sized case that's smaller than a business card and less than an inch thick. They weigh next to nothing and can be carried in a pocket or purse.
Cons (nitpicking really, because they're fantastic):
- You can't wear them for too long. The elastic is very tight, even for someone with very small wrists, so they may become uncomfortable if worn for extended periods of time. From personal experience, I am able to keep it on for only about an hour at a time without a break. However, after maybe 15 minutes off, I am able to put them back on again and I have yet to get sick using this cycle.
- You can't expect them to work in severe situations. I am able to sit comfortable in a car wearing Seabands. I can't however read, play video games, or otherwise "push my luck." They seem to work better as prevention and not when you are already extremely nauseous. For mild nausea, putting Seabands on should have you feeling normal within minutes.
- They leave imprints on your skin. Now this is definitely me nitpicking, but for those of you who worry about reaching out to shake someone's hand with an imprinted "bracelet" on your wrist, take them off a bit earlier.
Product Review: Did not work at all, might have made it worse somehow.... Summary: 1 Stars
I have been suffering from motion sickness as far as I can remember. I'm also not a big believer in drugs, unless it's absolutely necessary. I've only taken Dramamine a few times, and though it does "work," it gets you drowsy. Which kinda defeats the point, because the whole point is to be able to have energy to enjoy your day after a long car ride. So I finally decided to look for a non-drug solution and so I decide to go cheap and get a pair of these from my local target. I got them for a ride to SF from Sac, about a 2 hour ride. I had gone a couple of weeks before and I got my usual car sick. This time, I wanted to have the energy to enjoy the entire trip. So I put these on about 30 mins before I get into a car and kept them on the entire trip. Initially I was very optimistic, but after an hour in the car, I got the usual car sickness. Then 30 more minutes later, it continued to get worse. It was one of the worse I've had in a while, and felt puke right at my throat. I can't help but associate this worsened state with this SeaBand. I finally got out the car, but still felt sick for the whole day. Usually after getting out of the car and getting fresh air will relieve my symptoms in a couple of hours. This time I felt the sickness the entire day. My nausea was present the entire time and I couldn't eat as much, let alone have energy. I have pretty much lost faith in any of these bands, except for maybe the $100+ one. Even then, I don't know, I might just be throwing away more of my money.
Product Review: Didn't work at all for my morning sickness. Summary: 1 Stars
I have been suffering from severe morning sickness (continuous nausea, vomiting several times per day). Since morning sickness is featured on the packaging for this product, I decided to give these bands a shot. Unfortunately, I wore them for over 24 hours and all I got for my trouble was continuing nausea and a lot of puking... basically, no change in my symptoms *at all*. I placed the bands on my wrists exactly as instructed and I checked the placement many times over the hours. I also double-checked the acupressure points on a couple of Chinese medicine websites to make sure the placement was correct, so I am very sure that I had them placed correctly. According to the instructions (and other reviewers) there is supposed to be some relief within 5 min. to 1/2 hour. But nothing happened.
The only good thing I can say about this product is that I received it in good condition. There are so many good reviews; this makes me wonder if there is a placebo effect going on with these things. Either that, or they are really only good for motion sickness, in which case the manufacturer should not advertise it as a morning sickness remedy. I have had acupuncture before, so I know that stimulating the meridian points can be effective under certain circumstances, but this did not work at all.
This is all very disappointing to someone who has been ill with nausea and vomiting for almost two months.
I would not recommend this product.
