Product Review: Didn't work for me, but works well for others

I personally have had problems with insomnia for a few months now, and before I could visit my physician and get a prescription for something stronger this helped me relax and get to bed sooner. My problem was that I was waking up in the middle of the night and my mind would race and I could not get back to sleep, and unfortunately this medicine did not help with that. It is a great value for the tablet count and I would recommend it to anyone having minor sleep problems related to stress, but if it lasts for an extended period of time something stronger prescribed by a doctor may be the route you may have to go as I did.

Also, as opposed to other melatonin products, this one is a bit more bitter and not as sweet when they melt in your mouth. Not the worst taste ever, but bitter and not like candy.

Schiff Melatonin Plus 3 mg Melatonin with 25 mg Theanine - For Stress Relief and a Sounder Sleep - 300 Tablets

This is my personal favorite Melatonin. It seems to work for me better than any other melatonin product that I've tried. Must be the L-Theanine that it has. I let it melt in my mouth for faster results. You have to be really ready to go asleep, say like in 30 minutes or less. It doesn't leave you groggy in the mourning if you take it this way. Just a quicker more restful sleep. It's available at Sam's Club, also. It , also helps to take with 100mg of 5-HTP.

Product Review: Good Start to a Nights Sleep

Due to menopausal symptoms, for past 5 months have had trouble going to sleep and staying asleep. Taking Shifts Melatonin Plus I fall asleep within a half hour of taking the tablet and sleep soundly for 1 hour. After that, I do wake up hourly, as I had before, but go back to sleep with less trouble. I have very vivid and sometimes very strange dreams when taking this drug. I do wake up slightly groggy but the grogginess goes away fairly quickly. I have only been taking Shiff's Melatonin Plus for about a week now. I will continue on and see what happens. It has worked better than any other over the counter remedy has yet.

I wanted to try it so bought it locally (though the Amazon price is very good for 3).
Sleep is deep but not so deep as to be groggy in the morning. Pleasant dreaming, though non-sensical. Also not so deep as to not wake up during the night when turning over, etc. All in all, I'm happy to have given it a try.
Found it, along with Ginko biloba, recommended for tinnitus. Supposed to increase blood circulation. The relief for that is minor so far, but I've only been taking it for a week. There have been a couple of very quiet periods, but other times, just as usual.

As a college student, I generally have trouble with attaining adequate sleep at night. Worse, when I have the time to sleep, I have difficulty falling/staying asleep. Sometimes it is due to loud neighbors, other times to stress, but most frequently because I don't seem to get tired naturally until at least 2AM regardless of how much rest I have had. I decided to try Melatonin after learning about it in class.

When chewed, these make me tired in 15-20 minutes and I fall asleep very shortly after.

When taken normally, these make me tired in about 30 minutes and I fall asleep pretty soon after.

I've heard that after a certain amount, more Melatonin will not make you sleepier. Curious, I tried taking two tablets, but felt no different and showed no difference in sleep quality or length over a one week period.(WARNING: It is never a safe idea to purposely overdose on ANYTHING, I did this only to better compare it with higher dosage brands)

Pros-
- Makes me tired when I want to be tired.
- Helps me sleep through disturbances.
Cons-
- Does not help with that "I don't want to get out of bed" feeling in the morning.
- Nightmares can be intense and vivid while adjusting to the Melatonin.
