Krill oil is a wonderful replacement for Fish Oil pills. Fish oil pills are usually huge and hard to swallow. Krill, on the other hand, is available in small tablets, which are easy to swallow, and contain three times the amount of relief of fish oil. After reading the reviews expressing concerns about the sorbitol in MEGA RED, I contacted Schiff as well as the company that provides the krill oil to Schiff. Here is my email dialogue with Schiff who promptly responded to my inquiry:
ME: I understand that sorbitol is an ingredient in the MEGA RED product. How much sorbitol is in each capsule and why has Schiff / Superba added the sorbitol when so many people try to avoid it? Why add something unhealthful to the healthful krill oil?
SCHIFF: Thank you for your inquiry. The sorbitol in our Schiff MegaRed Krill Oil formula is used as a humecant in the manufacturing of the gelatin softgel. Each softgel contains less than 1mg of sorbitol.

Now, to find out just what an impact 1 mg per softgel would have is another matter but this is what Schiff has informed me of. Many folks need to call or email Schiff asking them to remove the sorbitol. Also inquire as to what healthier humectant would they consider as an alternative to sorbitol. We the consumers can make a huge difference.

Before I took this, I took Iceland Health Omega Fish Oil, It was more expensize, but it brought my cholestoral down to lower than ever, 175, it had always run 240 or so. I miss the other benefits of Iceland Health, it used to help calm me down, have bipolar disorder, Also helped with arthritus, hopefilly, this little red pill is doing something, don't feel it, but am sick to stomach sometimes in AM, was not attributing it to this, I think I will Try going back to Iceland Health, CVS has it for 60 Gel capsules for 19 bucks, I used to getit here for 30 bucks for a 30 capsule bottleProduct Review: Krill oil
