The Salter 914 scale readout is repeatable, and as far as I can determine by comparison with other, more precise scales, my copy is accurate to +/- 10 grams (which is its readability, or last digit). That is actually surprising for a consumer product. Generally you should always center the weight on the scale, but placing a 6.53 kg weight anywhere on the tray (that didn't actually tip it over) does not shift the readout more than 10 g. The weight readout is stable even with some baby limbs waving around (have not tried to weigh a vigorous fussing baby). All of these factors point to a high quality design. Cheaper scales may have the same specs on paper (max weight & readability) but not deliver the stability or accuracy.Product Review: Accurate and Easy to Use

We bought this scale when our son was labeled Failure to Thrive. Lactation consultants recommended weighing him before and after nursing. When used on the kg setting and then converted, it weighs to the 1/3 oz. The "Hold" feature makes it easy to get an accurate weight on squirmy babies. It's great to be able to weigh our baby on a more regular basis than going to the pediatrician. This scale is easy to set up and use and the hold function is useful too for our little one. Accuracy has not been tested rigorously but seems close enough to the scale at the pediatrician's office - besides, it is better to be consistent with one scale.Product Review: Helped Us

The scale works well. Somehow the picture made it look like it sticks up on the columns more than it really does. It is a practical size and works well.
Our son was slow to regain birth weight. When we were not seeing the growth we hoped for at the doctor's office, I decided we needed to get the scale for our piece of mind. So, we had it express shipped.
We like it. The only thing that is sometimes inconvenient is when it bounces between two readings, so you wonder what to call the measurement. You can just record it as a 1/4 ounce increment.

I bought the scale in September 2007 and have been using it for our newborn baby. I really like the looks, it's sturdy and has a large easy readable digital display. With one touch on a button you can switch between lbs and kgs, even when using. We really like the fact that we can also use the scale with our other children. They can stand on it when the bassinet is removed, which is easily done. The scale does not need a electrical outlet, so it can be put anywhere we like.
