My son has a birth defect that requires frequent trips to the doctor about once a week. With this scale I was able to eliminate the need for 10 at home nurse visits which was just to weigh him. I'm not saying that a nurse visit isn't ever useful, but in our case it wasn't necessary. The scale more than paid for itself and gave us peace of mind that our son was gaining weight at a normal pace. The scale is accurate like they say to the 1/2 oz, and seemed to be almost an exact match up with our doctor's scale. Would buy again- thanks, Amazon.com!Product Review: Very precise.

I just love this scale. It is so much better than the general scale we had initially purchased -very accurate to the doctor's scale and the health department scale. Even when the baby jiggled around on it, the weight was easy to maintain. I liked the idea that I could place a towel or blanket on it and "0 out" the weight so the baby was comfortable. What a blessing it was to have this scale! Why? I was nursing my newborn and the doctor wanted to supplement him with formula because he said he wasn't gaining weight quickly enough. Using the scale helped me prove him wrong. We kept the scale and got rid of the doctor!Product Review: Wonderful product!

This product is better than the weight machine my vet has! I love the hold button which gives you a weight even though your critter is moving. One of my better buys indeed. My eight dogs seem to feel very secure as they sit or lie down. Product Review: Defective scale, bad customer service

I bought this scale from Amazon last month for my new baby. The scale used to give me unbelievable weighs every time I used it, and the zero function was not working. I suspected the batteries although I used energizer, but it turned out that the problem was with the scale. After two weeks of use, I decided to contact Salter customer service, when I realized that they are based in the UK. They don't have a website for the US. When I called the number of customer service which was written on a tiny piece of paper inside the box of the scale, I had to wait for one full hour to speak with a representative. They told me that I needed to return the scale to the seller. When I told them that it was from Amazon and Amazon would probably charge me for the shipment, they said that this was their policy and they also would have charged me for the shipment. So you buy a defective product from them and have to pay to send it back to them. I would buy some extra money and buy a product that has good customer service that takes full responsibility for their products. I should mention here that I returned it to Amazon and got full refund, including shipment. This is because Amazon found out that the product was indeed defective.
