I should have read some of these comments before I ordered my Salter 9009 scale on 7/8/07. I paid the inflated price plus extra shipping costs to Hawaii; it malfunctioned soon after received and was returned to Salter on 10/12/07 with a letter explaining the problems, costing another bundle to ship it to New Mexico from Hawaii. A replacement was received some time later, but by 4/25/08 it was again malfunctioning (a leg stuck and I suddenly weighed 100 pounds less--nice!). Since there is no phone number to call for assistance or advice, I tried their internet site and left a request on their "response form" with my email address on 4/27/08. It's four months later--and still no reply. In logging onto their web site for the last week the site has been "down" for updating. Perhaps that's been since 6/08 when another responder had the same problem. My Salter scale is now sitting on a pile of obsolete electronics to be recycled. Perhaps it's time for the company to be up-dated or recycled. I, for one, will never consider purchasing a Salter product ever again!
