Bought this transfer board thinking it would provide a little extra length for transferring from the wheelchair to the car. While it's longer than the wood board we have now, it's just not rigid enough to provide a safe and comfortable transfer. Even when the actual transfer distance is only 8", the board sags down into the transfer space instead of giving a straight and strong bridge, thus making it more difficult for my husband to pull himself across the transfer space (he has to pull himself uphill to get out of the sag). I would not recommend this board for an active, double-leg amputee. Instead, find yourself a strong, rigid wooden transfer board that doesn't sag.

Product Details of the SafetySureTM Butterfly Transfer Board The Safety Sure ButterflyTransfer Board (SSBT Board) bridges is lightweight and flexible. It enables an individual to get into and out of bed, wheelchair, commode or car with less effort. The raise portion on the backside of the board helps prevent the individual from pinching their buttocks as well as providing additiona security when transferring. Anti-slip tapes on the bottom of the board keeps it immobile during the transfer process (fig. 1). The SSBT Board is made of flexible plastic. It is comfortable to sit on and is easily removed after use. Available in 23" and 30" lengths. Weight capacity 400 lbs. Tilt the individual towards the SSBT Board, taking the weight of the other hip. With the individual entire weight now resting on the board, the individual can easily be transferred. To remove, bend the board upward toward the individual (fig. 2) so that the anti-slip tapes are removed from contact with the underlying surface and the board will slide out by itself.
