Product Reviews of SPI 7910 Tranquility Zone Ultimate Relaxation SystemProduct Review: Relaxation Summary: 4 StarsI received my product, it was a dark charcoal grey, not black. Is great when sitting in bed, heat and massage function do offer a nice addition to relaxation. WOuld like a better spine fit, otherwise, I love the product!
Product Review: for a small person Summary: 2 StarsIs actually too small for me to sit against and I am an average size person. The massage and heat work as described, the light is too dim to read by.
Product Review: I got this chair for a whole different reason Summary: 4 StarsOkay, I've only had this chair for a week and used it about 4 times, but i'll tell you what i think so far and kinda address some points i've read in other reviews. READ THE LAST POINT IF YOU'RE A MOM or MOM TO BE or...know one :)
1) the fabric is a silky, stretchy, shiny material. Pretty comfortable to me. it does look like it would be easy to clean. as others have said, it would be super if it came in a plush velvet or chenille, but it doesn't and this is actually really comfortable. mine came in black just as the picture on Amazon.
2) the light on my chair is *NOT* flimsy in any way. its strudy as can be and more than adequate to read by. my 3 small children have been messing with it and haven't been able to cause the slightest damage to it yet and that's sayin' something.
3)i LOVE the heat feature and think it works VERY well. it gets my back hot enough to make a big difference when i'm achey or sore without it getting too hot where you'd have to turn it down.
4) the massage doesn't feel a spa treatment at the Four Seasons hotel...but it gets the job done. its more of a relaxing vibration and in conjunction with the heat is a very pleasent and helpful experience. i always hate to get up from it and look forward to sitting back down in it.
5)i have not tried to move it to the center of a room or anything to see how well it stands up on its own, i have mine on my bed where my bed pillows usually are and so the back is pressed up against my headboard. this works great and is how i intended to use it to begin with.
6)the big arms on the side *rock*. they could be extended slightly to be a little more useful (longer i mean) but its definately better than not having them at all and trying to hold your book in your lap with no support under your elbows.
7) honestly, i got this chair for a whole different reason that they probably never thought of....breastfeeding. it keeps my sitting upright, just the perfect amount. the arms on the side help keep my arms elevated perfectly to support my newborn in the perfect position to breastfeed...AND the BEST part of all...the heat and vibrations!! i'm still achey from the pregnancy and being up all night with feedings and the heat is *heaven* on my back...without having to mess with a heating pad slipping down the pillow and getting bunched up and having to fix it all the time. the vibrations lull both me and my newborn to sleep constantly. i highly recommend this for this purpose! it sure beats a Boppy or a nursing pillow! with extra perks for mom...when you need it most :)
hope this helps someone...
Product Review: Its good. Summary: 5 StarsJust got it. Some observations:
1. I thought I had ordered a black one, based on the picture, but the actual item was gray. I'm still keeping it, but what the hell?
2. As many reviewers pointed out, it IS hard. Or 'stiff'. The cushions in it are not soft. But I wouldnt say that it is uncomfortable. I actually rather liked it. It gives very good back support, and helps keep you awake when youre reading. Helps the posture. Its definitely not uncomfortable. I could even see myself sleeping in it if I were tired enough.
3. The big fat arms on the side are a great luxury. Most bedrests do not come with such side-support as this. They dont extend out too far tho (the picture is a bit misleading). You'll have enough room to put your elbows on it, thats about it; not your whole forearm.
4. The attached light is pretty cool. The stalk is made of coils of metals. It isnt cheaply built. And works well enough to read by.
5. The heat and massage functions - They're okay, though i'm not going to use them much. The massage function is fun for a while. Its not going to cure your lumbar problem, but you might turn it on now and then as a luxury.
In sum: All bedrests should be like this. The days of piling up pillows behind me are over!
Product Review: Does Its Job Summary: 4 StarsWell constructed unit that provides firm lumbar support and conveniences such as a soft reading light and side pockets. Its comfortable enough that even a bad back like mine can enjoy an entire movie on a portable DVD player while sitting up in bed in it. The massage and heat are basic but effective.
