I thought my Physical Therapist was crazy when he suggested this. I've had sharp searing pain for years in my pubic symphysis (feels like it is being ripped apart-- you can't breathe until it passes), I've broken my tailbone so it has fused in a malformed hook shape, along with hip and knee problems... Wearing this simple device has taken away one pain.
The hardest part was to stop wearing it after six months, you get used to the nice cradle feeling. But sadly if you don't stop using it the joint grows weak and you need it for life. I do keep it around for occasional flare ups though.
It can contribute to abdominal discomfort/ constipation, my solution was to pick up the maternity version- it has elastic and wraps tightly around, with a panel in the front to spread out the direct impact. It is not a normal maternity support, and would work for anyone with this problem.
