I received this as a gift from my wish list and it peeled the potato much faster than I expected. I never used to make mashed potatoes because I hate to peel them; since I got this peeler, I've made them more in these past few months than I've made in years.
I remember when I read the reviews, someone wrote about it being made of cheap plastic. Well, I live in South Florida and I'm really glad that it is not metal -- the plastic (or whatever it is made of) is VERY easy to clean and lightweight. It is perfect.
Note: My peeler accommodates batteries and also came with an AC adapter. If you live in a high humidity area like I do, you probably know that the AC adapter is a must.

Love it. Time saving. My friend had never seen this item before and I used it to peel her 10 pound bag of potatoes and she was very impressed.
This is also a good gadget for people with arthritis. You still have to use the hand peeler, but only for the very top and bottom of the potatoes.

The product is very useful, because it can be operated by batteries or using the included electrical voltage transformer. The negative thing is the blade, that is very delicate and sharp, and is not found easily to purchase. But it is a very interesting product.Product Review: Wish it was more durable...

We are a meat and potatoes-type of family and the Rotato actually does make life a bit easier...when it works. Unfortunately it is very cheaply made; the spring pops out of the peeling arm every time I pull it out of the cupboard to use. I had one years ago that was much more durable but it finally quit working. Would I recommend the Rotato? If it works, yes...it saves time and peeling potatoes isn't a chore. If it is as cheaply made as the one I currently have, no...save yourself the money and frustration.
