This product works very well against mosquitoes. When I use it on the family, we don't get eaten alive.

I've tried it on other insects, as well. The last time we went camping, red ants were crawling all over our tarp. I sprayed the repellent on the tarp and it worked, but only for a very short while. Ants soon started patrolling our tarp within an hour, but at least they did not overrun us. There were red ant hills everywhere.

We had yellow jackets everywhere on that trip, too. They mostly wanted food and water, but they seemed to be attracted to the scent of humans and even stung one of the girls in another family camped nearby. I sprayed my kids and myself when the yellow jackets appeared too interested in us, and though they flew nearby, they did not land on us.

I like DEET spray versus other applications like gel or wipes, because I am able to apply the spray to clothing, which usually covers the majority of our bodies when we are camping or out at night. It can also be used on exposed skin.

Some things to remember:
- do not use on children younger than 2 months old. Children should not use products with higher than 30% concentration of DEET.
- both a 10% DEET solution and a 20% DEET solution are about equally effective at repelling mosquitoes. The difference between them is how long they are effective. Choose the lowest DEET concentration you'll need based on how long you will be exposed. 29% DEET provides up to 8 hours of protection. If you will only be out for 2 hours, try a 5% concentration. For 6 hours, try 15%.
- do not spray on skin that will be covered with clothing and jackets. Spray over clothing.
- do not spray on the face. Spray on your hands and apply that to the face, but do not get in the eyes, nose or mouth.
- do not leave spray on your hands. Wash hands after using. This is especially important for children, since they often put their hands in their mouths.
- wash off DEET after coming indoors. Change clothing and do not wear again until clothing is washed.
- do not spray cuts or open wounds.
- do not use on bedding or enclosed areas.
- do not overuse. Use only as directed.

When mosquitoes abound, we are happy to have this product on hand. It doesn't need to be upright to spray and covers thoroughly. We are happy campers.
