Product Review: great idea, but poor performance

I agree with some of the other not-so-enthusiastic reviews, but I was dumb enough to buy a second unit after the first one crapped out. The design is great- the slightly curved clipper head surface actually makes cutting your own hair "idiot proof"; but as others have pointed out, the battery and charging system is really bad. Even when the unit was new and fully charged, I had to work fast to beat the incredibly short battery life. And I don't have a whole lot of hair left to cut. I'm talking about less than 5 minutes of use per charge.
Since I purchased the first unit in an online auction, I thought I probably just got someone's lemon. The second unit was actually worse. As I said it's really slick when it works, but make sure you work fast

I have been shaving my head for over a decade and have always wished for something better than traditional clippers. When I saw the Shortcut, I was very optimistic. However, the first time I tried it, it really let me down. It clips differently than a traditional clipper so I didn't get good results at first. I drawer'd it and thought I'd just go back to the old standby. By as days passed by I thought I would give it another shot. It took me several uses to finally figure out the best way to use them, but after I did, they really were better.
Now I can shave my head in about 2/3rds the time. And it does it more consistently, with fewer passes. The curved clipper does help cover more area. It makes going around the ears a bit awkward, but after you figure out the right angle you can get all the areas. I was afraid I'd have to bring out the old clippers to touch up hard to reach spots, but in the end, I was able to get everywhere with the Shortcut.
I was hesitant the first few times, but now I'm convinced. It's a much better clipper for anyone looking to shave their whole head.
