I've been cutting my own hair for well over a decade now, ever since it started receding and I decided that paying someone [...] bucks a month to cut it was foolish. I started with a Flowbee, but it just doesn't cut short enough (the more I lose, the shorter I want it). I then got a regular Remington home hair cutting kit which served me well for about 7 years, but again I wanted to go shorter. Then I saw the Short Cut as a Gold Box deal, read the description about doing a bald cut, and I knew I had to try it. Am I ever glad I did. This is the fastest, easiest, most worry-free clippers I have ever used. I used to have my wife inspect my head after cutting because I inevitably missed a spot, but because of the bi-directional cutting it is easy to get every last hair. I love the bald cut, and because it is so quick to maintain after the first time, I can cut my hair in minutes, a couple times a week, with minimal clean up. My only complaint is that you cannot use it corded when the battery gets low, but that is a minor inconvenience. I would recommend this clipper to anyone who likes to keep their hair short (there is a longer length comb included) with minimal fuss and repeatable results.Product Review: Beware the Remington Shortcut

I'm sorry, but I'm just going to have to side with the negative reviews on this one. When I first got it, my results were not that good. But I chalked it up to inexperience and figured that the Shortcut has a learning curve just like everything else. I went to a barber to get straightened out before trying again. Even after reviewing the instructions and taking extra care, I still got a bad haircut. The Shortcut just doesn't seem to like hair any longer than a buzz cut.
My unit just got tossed in the wastebasket. I'm going to tough it out until the end of the month; then it's back to a regular rotation with the local barbershop.
You might get good results if you like your hair super-short; otherwise if I were you I would steer clear of this product.

You want a buzz or you want it bald? Those are your options with the Remington Short Cut Clipper. If that's what you want it works just fine, but be aware that this is for very short cuts.
The whole thing fits nicely in the hand and can be used on oneself. Even on the bald setting there is a guard that keeps you from cutting yourself, which is a very nice feature. It comes with two combs, one for bald and one for buzzes of up to half an inch. The length setting is simple to adjust.
After charging up it lasts quite a while. My only complaint is that there is no case to store the extra comb, or to carry the whole device and its charger plug.
