This rechargeable clipper by Remington is a great idea, and works well once you get the hang of it. The design is unique and has some excellent features. The cutting area and guards are curved to better fit the shape of your head. It is also a wider cutting area than traditional clippers so you can cut your hair much quicker. It is comfortable in your hand and comes with 2 guards that fit over the blades. Additionally, the blades can be raised higher or lower by turning a dial on the body of the clipper. So there is quite a bit of hair length adjustment possible. The cordless aspect of this clipper is especially nice.
The instructions aren't especially helpful and I think their claim that it's fool-proof is a bit overstated. There is definitely a learning curve before you achieve excellent results every time. (I wouldn't use this for the first time the day before your wedding or something.) As suggested, you should start with a much longer setting that you actually want while you are learning. You can always make it shorter.
The curved shape is actually pretty good, but there are places on most heads that are not curved, especially around and behind the ears. That's where it's tricky and takes practice, but an even cut can be achieved. The pop-up trimmer is very nice and works well.
As mentioned by others, you can leave it plugged in between uses and you should. The charger does not work as an a/c adapter so you cannot use the clipper while it is plugged in.
There have been several comments about these units breaking quickly. After a few months, mine began to have issues with not turning on. I think the switch design must be poor because after juggling and whacking my unit, I have always been able to get it to turn on (eventually). Of course, I am expecting that one day, it won't power on anymore.

I keep my hair fairly short, so when I saw this product I figured it was worth a try. My first impressions were good, the packaging was easy to open, and the trimmer felt light and comfortable in my hand. The product comes with 2 combing guides, a cleaning brush, some oil for the blades, a charger, and an instruction manual (which was a bit confusing to read). I was disappointed that the product did not include a case to hold the trimmer and accessories, and that it took a long time to charge fully (16 hours).
After charging it overnight, I attached the adjustable guide comb and set it to the highest setting, which gives a ½ inch cut (be warned that it comes with the balding guide already attached). I quickly went over my entire head, since the cutting blades work forward and backward. I then used the #3 setting to trim the sides, which gave me a tapered look, similar to the cut my barber gives me. I've used the trimmer twice so far and it's already paid for itself.
One thing that is a bit of a nuisance is that the cut hair tends to clog the blades, making it necessary to clean out the loose hair periodically. The unit does come with a sideburn trimmer, but that feature is not very functional. It's difficult to get the right angle when using it, so instead I use my Wahl compact trimmer for the sideburns and around the ears.
This product does a good job for its intended purpose. It gives a nice short buzz cut, quickly and easily. I subtracted one star because of the few shortcomings I mentioned above.

I am usually looking for ways to shorten my time needed for a even cut. I ordered this knowing it will not replace my regular clippers. My hair cut is not an all around buzz which this product is designed for so take it with a grain of salt. I usually fade the sides and leave the top longer. But I usually see stray strands afterward so this was what drove my purchase of this unit.
I gave it 3 stars for following reason and other reviews have mentioned these:
- I can't replace the battery when its capacity will go down (all batteries will eventually lose its capacity through dis/recharging cycles so keep this in mind)
- 14 to 16 hour initial charge time is long, but the slow charging of the unit probably to prevent the unit from overheating and prolong the battery's life
- the unit will not run with the AC adapter plugged into the unit (so if the power dies on you in the middle of a cut, make sure you have a regular plug in clipper on hand)
- the edge trimmer doesn't work, I tend to use my regular clippers to do the edges
- you'll still need regular clippers if your hair is longer than 1" since the motor is probably not strong enough and angle of the blade isn't meant deal with the length/amount of hair
So in my opinion bottom line: use regular clippers for the bulk of the cut, then use the Short Cut to finish.

The Battery Issue...
I complained here over a year ago about the batteries too.
I didn't like that they wouldn't hold a charge.
But I learned to plan for that and now I feel differently,
so I'm re-reviewing.
My first one lasted 18 months till it crapped out.
I tore it apart to see if the batteries could be replaced.
It was soon obvious that they could not reasonably be replaced,
it would definitely not be worth it and it would no longer be water tight.
But I will say that while I had it apart I definitely saw a well built piece of equipment.
I recently bought two more...
Here's a way to look at it.
These are priced to be DISPOSABLE so just think of them that way.
I had a 18 months of perfect haircuts, once a week, for only $30 bucks!
If I ever thought that these would not be available I'd buy a bunch.
I hope that Remington keeps them going.
