This shave definitely cuts closer than the Braun I was using.
1. I find the cord too tightly wound and it pulls out of the shaver while shaving. My electrical outlet is located just above the vanity so it is not far from my face. So I use the battery to shave by and use the cord only to recharge the battery. Fortunately the battery seems to be quite powerful.
2. The shaver tends to leave some whiskers that grow into long hairs over a period of a few days which is a new problen I have not generally encountered in my previous electric shavers. I use the trimmer while shaving to prevent this from happening.

I was very much influenced by Consumer Reports rating of this shaver. Found it to be everything as reviewed. Did not have any problem with a 'breaking in' period as some had suggested. Wish I had purchased this years ago. As a retiree, I had found the cost of blades to be very expensive. I did the math and determined the cost of using this electric shaver to be significantly less than the more expensive blades.

I have used several different brands of rotary electric shavers in the past and was pleased with most of them. That said, I'm glad I tried this shaver - it gives a very close shave and I have less "burn" afterwards than I had with my previous (also a Remington) rotary - or any that I previously owned. Satisfactory, competent shaver. Well made, comfortable and solid-feeling. Gives a good shave in an average amount of time. Trimmer is unusually efficient. Can shave using its battery or plugged into wall, if you are negligent and let the battery discharge. One disappointment: Although you can briefly rinse the shaver (unplugged, of course!) to get rid of clippings, it is apparently not designed for shaving in the shower, as some electrics are. Water and shaving cream apparently can penetrate along the sides of the trimmer into the case, damaging or perhaps ruining the shaver. Still, in all, this is a good shaver and fairly priced.
