Product Review: CR Beast Buy - NOT!

I bought this shaver to replace a 20 year old Norelco rotary shaver. CR listed it as a best buy and the reviews are great. I was VERY disappointed in the results. Each hair is cut by a single blade vibrating very quickly, which by the way is noisy. Each hair has to poke through the "microscreen" to get cut. I had lots of missed hairs and they are totally random. I use Remington Face Saver so the results should be optimum. To get a full shave takes me at least twice as long as it did with the rotary shaver.
I like to shave every other day so this product does not work well for me. This shaver is probably good enough if you use it twice a day. That way the missed hairs be less noticeable.
The rotary concept with the dual cutting blades makes more sense to me. The first one pulls the hair and the second one cuts it closer. That's what I had before and it did a much better job.
Also, with my rotary I never used anything on my face before I shaved and it did a good job. Of course neither was as good as a multibladed razor, but those turn my face into a blood bath. Electric is the only choice for me.

Had this razor for a month now as a replacement for a 7 year old Norelco (Philips) which had the head come apart. The cost of parts to get that back up and running was about the same as the Remington.
Impressions after a month...works well. Gives a clean and close shave. Noisy compared to the Norelco, but that is probably to be expected when going from a rotary head to a reciprocating design. Easy to clean. Very good battery life. Beard trimmer mechanism looks kind of weak, but works well enough.
Excellent value for the price. Would give 4.5 stars if possible, with 1/2 mark off for the noise and beard trimmer.

The Remington MS2-390 Microscreen 500 is a terrific value. I replaced my twice the price Norelco (it croaked) and I'm genuinely impressed with both the ease and closeness of the shave. Using this Remington is authentically a treat from my point of view :-)Product Review: Love it

Works great. Only problem seems that the trimmer doesn't work as well as my old Norelco.
