Product Reviews of Remington HKVAC-2000 Precision Vacuum Haircut KitProduct Review: Good to go..... Summary: 4 Stars
I just bought my second one of these. I used my first one for over 3 years with weekly haircuts for me and every other week for my 2 boys. Only started having trouble lately, but after 300+ haircuts it was about time for a new one.
Pro: Very little mess to clean up.
Cons: 1) My boys had very fine hair when they were little and the mesh didn't catch it all, but still much better than no vac at all.
2) Noisy, the fan that sucks up the hair better than doubles the noise over a standard clippers.
Product Review: Good, but not mess-free Summary: 4 Stars
This unit has the power transformer at the wall socket end instead of in the handheld part. The handheld part is mostly made of plastic. So, it's pleasantly light to hold, much lighter than my Wahl homecare thing.
The supplied guard things (that you swap to change length, etc.; IIRC they range from 1/8" to 1") have a curve on the bottom so it's easier to have them glide over concave surfaces instead of digging the pointed end into them. This also makes things more pleasant.
Don't believe the no-mess story, though. It really does catch most of the hair, so it's certainly worthwhile, and it's easy to empty the hair trap, but I still have to vacuum the remainder afterwards. It doesn't catch it all.
Product Review: Great Idea & Design - But Somewhat Fragile Summary: 4 Stars
The on-board vacuum works great and saves me having to get our upright out to clean up. The only thing that I wish were different was that it was made better. The unit is all plastic and won't endure a drop on a hard floor very well so be careful.
Product Review: Great Clippers! Summary: 5 Stars
I have owned these clippers for around 4 years with ZERO issues. In fact, they are still sharp enough to cut me where my ears connect to my head if I am not careful.
The hair catcher is the primary reason I bought these and they do not disappoint. I shave my head bald with these every two or so weeks and very little hair doesn't get caught, I damp a piece of toilet paper and wipe in front of the sink and I'm finished.
I highly recommend these, in fact I just bought a set for a friend that was complaining about standard no vacuum razors.
Product Review: Great Dog Grooming Clippers Summary: 4 Stars
If it wasn't good the Baracuda wouldn't buy it. She purchased two kits to supplement the one we already have to groom our seven pound dog. That's crazy! Pets come and go though and we have had up to three dogs that needed grooming. If you've ever clipped a pet you know about cleaning up hair afterward. With the vacuum feature that is eliminated. We purchased the clippers with the expectation that they will last a lifetime. The only drawback is that the clippers get really really warm, so when one gets uncomfortable the Baracuda swaps to another. Remington has stopped producing the HKVAC-2000 so available stock is the only way to go. Happy clipping.
