From time to time, I fail to read product descriptions thoroughly and end up with something I didn't intend. Not this time. I read the product description carefully. Had I understood that this toothpaste, Rembrandt with Peroxide, had sodium monoflourophosphate as its only active ingredient, I would have passed on it.
On the package, there is a clear warning to keep this product away from children under 12 and to seek professional assistance or poison control if swallowed. No thanks! I'll skip a product that could cause me to contact poison control.
While I recognize that many people do not agree that fluoride toothpaste is dangerous, I believe that its presence should be clearly identified in the product description. What is described is the addition of papain, an enzyme found in papaya, and peroxide. On the package, both ingredients are listed under "Inactive Ingredients."
I won't be adding this toothpaste to my dental supplies.
