I got this clock for my 92 year old grandmother. It is ALMOST perfect. Firstly, the voice is clear and loud - great! The button to hear the time is nice and big and easy to find - great! There are two things that are not great though. As a regular clock, its not that great - its pretty much going to be impossible for a visually impaired person to see the 'calculator-like' screen. Thats ok though, thats a minor detail - because obviously thats what the 'talking' feature is for. One good thing I really like about this is that though you can see a few different buttons on the top - there is a lock switch on the bottom to prevent you from accidentally changing the time with the other buttons. BUT, there is ONE button on the top that still works even though the lock switch is on. Its the "Minute" button. When you press the minute button, it turns on and off the hourly announcement feature... where it will announce the time at every hour on the hour. I cant imagine who would use that, and have it announcing the time in the middle of the night. But for some reason, they havent locked out that feature with the lock switch. So there is still a risk of pressing that button accidentally and turning on that feature. I wanted to take a dremel and cut off that button - probably be a good idea. Otherwise, its a good clock and worth it - probably better than most others out there.

This low profile, multi-functional clock announces time in a friendly female voice with a touch of a button. Measuring 1-3/4 round and accented in dark gray, only the lightest touch is required to activate voice announcement button. Another special feature of this clock is the Lock/Set button. Those who are blind or who have low vision, perhaps even those with dexterity problems, may already be familiar with the frustration of accidentally resetting a digital clock's time or alarm. With this button, you push it to Set only when you are purposely setting the clock's time or alarm. When finished, push the button to Lock and you never have to worry about accidentally changing the time or the alarm again. The clock also features a 10-minute snooze, your choice of beep, cuckoo or rooster alarm sounds, hourly voice announcements, and Hi/Lo volume sound. Clock requires two AA batteries; not included.
