Product Reviews of Puffs Facial Tissue Plus Lotion With The Scent Of Vicks, 2-Ply White Tissues, 60-count Boxes (Pack of 24) [Certified Frustration-Free Packaging]Product Review: Puffs Summary: 5 Stars
Why not just store the box in a plastic ziplock bag to "seal" in the smell. I did this, and have no issues with them.
Product Review: Terrible stuff Summary: 1 Stars
These tissues are horrible. We accidentally purchased some thinking they were regular Puffs. What a surprise you get when you use them the first time. First you get hit with the stench of Vicks Vapo Rub, then you feel the horrible, burning pain that results when the tissue comes in contact with the inside of your nose. The pain is bad enough that I think these tissues should be taken off the market.
Product Review: The eyes have it. Summary: 3 Stars
These are fine for blowing your nose. They're as soft as regular Puffs with Lotion. But if you're suffering allergies or cough so hard that your eyes water, don't even think of wiping your tears away with these.
It BURNS! IT BURNS! Review: These tissues should be taken off the market Summary: 1 Stars
I am writing this review as a warning to other customers. These tissues are beyond horrendous. The Vicks scent is more than just a "scent." It's like inhaling toxic fumes. I had a severe allergic reaction to these tissues and actually had to go to the Emergency Room because my throat closed up, a developed a very bad sore throat, cough, headache, earache, and a high fever. I also became so dizzy I could barely stand. Blowing my nose with Vicks was like having hot, burning poison drip into my nose and down my throat.
I understand that some people like Puffs with Vicks, but the company should at least place an allergy warning on their label to make it more clear that the tissues are scented. That way consumers can actually exercise consumer choice. My roommate bought these thinking they were regular unscented tissues because the "scented with Vicks" is in such small letters she didn't see it.
If you are in any way allergic to chemicals, scents, or perfumes DO NOT use these tissues. I have already submitted a complaint to Puffs on their website.
The ingredients in Vicks are the following:
Mineral Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol, Paraffin, Steareth-2, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Glycine Soja (Soybean Oil), Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Bisabolol, Fragrance, Eucalyptus, Campho and Menthol.
Notice that the manufacturer does not say exactly what the "fragrance" is. I think that is very sketchy.
Product Review: Vicks scent only lasts for so long Summary: 3 Stars
I'd picked these up from the grocery store, not knowing that they were scented with Vicks. It was a nice surprise for me, since the scent of Vicks really did help clear up my sinuses a bit. The tissues are nice, soft & have lotion on them, which is another plus because hey... I'm using a lot of them & having a red rubbed nose is never fun.
The only downfall? The Vicks scent will evaporate over time. I'd had my first box for less than a day before the scent just seemed to disappear to a near non-existent whisp of a scent. If you were looking for the scent it's there, but it's far from the strong smell that I'd first gotten when I opened the pack. I blame this mostly on the poor packaging idea from Vicks/Puffs. If the tissues had been resealable, the odds are that the tissues would still have the Vicks smell on them.
But for me, it's good enough to purchase again. The scent lingers around enough to warrant repurchasing them & as far as price goes, it's about the same amount as the regular puffs at my grocery store.
EDIT:
I wanted to add an extra bit to my review. I did find a very simple way of keeping the Vicks scent to linger longer. Rather than punching the cardboard off of the top entirely, leave it partially on or replace it after you are finished with the tissues. I ended up doing that one day out of curiousity & discovered that the scent was still strong enough even after being opened.
