Product Review: Expensive, watery, hard to measure...

...pretty much sums up my assessment of this laundry detergent. It does a good job cleaning clothing, but I think its drawbacks make it a very unattractive product for me. First, I found that it very difficult to measure well. The detergent comes in a bag that is marked on the side at intervals so that the user can measure out how much to use. This makes it hard to get an accurate sense of how much you're actually using. I found myself constantly pouring, then lifting the bag upright to check the product level, then pouring more, then rechecking. It's much easier just to have a small measuring cup.
My second beef is that the detergent is very watery. Now, this is mostly a psychological reaction: wateriness is not what I expect from a laundry detergent and, even though the detergent works as well as other products I've used, the wateriness does not inspire confidence in me, on a gut level, that the product is as good as others. I realize that my perception is not reality, but I still find it hard accept a watery detergent. In my mind, watery still means cheap, and not as good. But this detergent is anything but cheap.
Which brings me to point the third: at $8.88 per bag, and 24 ounces per bag, this is a very expensive way to wash clothing. I'm not sure it's worth it, esp. in light of the fact that my exercise clothing is not terribly specialized or expensive. This laundry detergent is specially formulated for high-end exercise clothes, and I mostly work out in old tee-shirts and shorts.
Finally, and this is strictly a personal, subjective issue: I'm not partial to the smell of this detergent. Other people may like it, but my nose said, "No!"
So, I think I'll stick with Gain.

I'm a lifelong endurance athlete, so I really know how to stink up not only my technical athletic clothing, but my dress shirts and undershirts as well. And while I wasn't able to put Prowash to the real test of years old, embedded stink and grime, I found it is yet another great option in the fight to keep my favorite clothes out of the rag bin--where my wife puts them when she considers them too worn or too grimy to wear anymore.
Prowash is gentler than both Win and Nikwax technical wash. Nikwax, notably, I will never use again after it destroyed a favorite old Columbia Titanium jacket. And Win is great, though if you just need to do a regular washing of your sports clothes rather than a decontaminating it of body soil and odor then it's better to go with Prowash and then use Win intermittantly.
As an all around detergent to use every time, on every item of washable clothing, Win is better; but to use every time on just my sports or work clothing I prefer Prowash.
If your work is some kind of manual, heavy labor--construction worker, fisherman, farmer, et cetera--then this is a great detergent for getting the stink out of all your work clothes.
Prowash is also a great value as I found I need less of it for the same amount of laundry than I would need of Win.
BOTTOM LINE: Nikwax, never; Win, sometimes; Prowash, always.

I am very pleased with this detergent....It has a light fresh scent that isn't over powering at all...We normally use ALL Free & Clear because we don't want a real strong smell...but this has a very pleasant faint scent.
You can also cut the amount it says to use on the package in half ...I found that you don't need to use the full amount and it still gets everything very clean !
I will be buying this again !

My husband is an avid cyclist and I participate in a "bootcamp" exercise class 3x week. My husband's cycling kits had taken on a funky smell that regular detergent would not remove. His jersey would smell "clean" out of the wash, but then would start to smell once he got out on the bike. I had the same experience with my dri-fit tops. We tried Win, mainly because it could be purchased locally. Win has good reviews, however, we agreed after a couple bottles, that Win was not doing the job. A note about our wash conditions: we have semi-hard water and use a standard top-load washing machine.
Pro Wash comes with a small measuring cup. Be sure to read the info on the bag about how much to use...we fill the cup halfway for a small load of wash (typically 2 jerseys, 2 bib shorts, a couple of tops and a pair of running shorts). The pouch is easier to manage if you support the bottom of the pouch in the palm of your hand while pouring instead of trying to hold it near the top, my experience. I highly recommend Pro Wash -- it gets the funk out of technical fabric.

This product was surprisingly good. I just washed some of my old gym gear, but it worked really well. I was initially skeptical because I have pretty sensitive skin, so I try to use the unscented, undyed stuff. I was thankful that the scent was pretty mild, and after using my gear again, my skin was totally fine, not irritated at all. They also have a Facebook fan page with more information about the product. This was nice because it led me to some of their other products.
