I use our Vicks humidifier every night with our little one. I purchased this to keep the tank clean. There isn't any other way to clean the tank, so you just drop it in and let it do its work. It is very inexpensive for the use you get out of it. Since I got this, I haven't had to change the filter as often. I change it every 2 weeks vs every few days. I am not sure why I didn't get this to begin with.Product Review: misleading, not anti-bacterial

I used this with a new filter for less than a month and found that bacteria was present and the filter needed to be replaced. I will be using a liquid bacteriostat from now on.

The description for this cartridge says that it "provides continuous protection against mold and bacteria" with its "Aquastat" antimicrobial technology. If you read the literature that comes with it, however, it says that it prevents microbe growth *in the cartridge*. Not in your humidifier. It's not an antimicrobial cartridge; it's a demineralization cartridge.
