I always used these in the humidifier, because they are recommended by the nmanufacturer and my humidifier has a special holder for it.
However, they have a relatively short recommended life - 4 fillings and are relatively pricey, so for the cost/benefit I am rating it OK.

I don't know if these little babies do anything or not, but for the price and the amount of humidifiers I have, I buy them like candy. They can't hurt anything and I hope they actually do filter the minerals out of the water.
