Product Reviews of PowerBar Power Gel Concentrated Carbohydrate Gel, Caffeinated, Green Apple, 1.44-Ounce Packets (Pack of 24)Product Review: Not the product in picture. Summary: 4 StarsThe actual product shipped was not the one pictured on this page. The ones in the picture above are the normal ones you would find at GNC, Vitaminshop, etc and I'm sure that most people are used to taking for races, games, events.
However, the ones Amazon shipped look different and are labelled "4x sodium" on the front of each pack. That translates to 200mg of salt in each packet. They taste salty, the texture is different/watery, and they require a whole lot more water to wash out the salty taste. The original powergels taste great, have great texture, and require about 8 oz of water to wash down (great for the middle of a foot race).
They advertise on each packet that we sweat out salt ("electrolytes") and need to replenish it with these gels. I just wanted carbs to finish the race. They're call carb gels, not salt gels. Try to find and order the originals.
But other than that, this is a great price for them and they work (even if they require more water to take down).
Product Review: turned me into a "machine"! Summary: 5 StarsOK, I ate some of this stuff before the last 10 miles of
an 87 mile ride. I don't know if this gel is the reason
or not, but my legs quit feeling very tired, and I pulled
my two riding partners the last 10 miles at 18-23 mph
against a mild headwind. Several others who were behind me
fell off. We ended up with a 20mph average.
I like the flavor too. I think I responded well to the
caffeine!
Product Review: Great for a long run or bike ride Summary: 2 StarsI started running a couple years ago, and I ran my first marathon last year. I always carry PowerGel with me on my long runs. Yes PowerGel is just sugar and caffine, but when I'm bonking 15 miles into a 20 mile run, I am super glad I have one in my pocket. I think the benefit comes mainly from the sugar, but I do tend to buy the flavors with 25mg of caffine. In general I give PowerGel 4 to 5 stars, but I'm giving the Tangerine flavor two stars because I didn't like the taste. All the other flavors are much better.
Product Review: First marathon, they worked great. Summary: 5 StarsI used these gels while training for my first marathon and finally during the marathon 4 days ago. They were an invaluable tool in helping me finish. If you take one every 45 minutes, your energy level stays constant throughout the run. The Strawberry Banana flavor is also very tasty.
Product Review: Purchaser Summary: 1 StarsGood product but I only received a single gel package instead of 24. The so called "replacement" package came with only 22 gel packs. And I was billed twice. Obviously some kinks with distribution and customer care need to worked out.
