Having used this product for a month now and gotten over the intense tickling it originally caused I am very happy with it. Use is easy and I like the sanitizer also. A good buy for the money. My new dentist & hygienist recommended that I purchase the Philips Sonicare toothbrush. He said it will clean my teeth much better than a manual toothbrush and prevent my gums from receding. I have used it for only 3 weeks and my teeth and gums never have felt and so clean. I love the UV sanitation and always worried that my toothbrush was in an environment that would collect germs. Several of the comments have said that the buttons on the front get bumped too easily and you find yourself changing brushing modes even when you don't want to. I suppose if you grip the toothbrush in a closed fist that could happen. It's never happened to me, as I grip it lightly down the side grip pads. Another comment said there was a concern with mold in the UV unit. For that to happen there has to be standing water. I always dry the toothbrush off before putting it back on the stand - no mold issues. This is not my first Sonicare. I switched because I was tired of the gunk in the area where the toothbrush meets the handle. This one doesn't do that. I haven't decided yet how useful the sanitizer is, since it kills invisible stuff I think it's there to make you feel like your toothbrush is cleaner. This is a great toothbrush, the 'soniccare' experience is far above any brush I've ever used. I can honestly say that I can feel the difference this toothbrush made versus my old (non sonic) electric toothbrush. My dentist recommended that I get a sonic toothbrush since I have mild gingivitis. When I went back 2 months later she said that things were looking better. I believe the toothbrush made a big difference.
My only criticism is in regards to the price. I think some of the less expensive soniccare toothbrushes would do just as good of a job at a lower cost. The UV cleaner is fine. It's easy to use but I've never had an issue in the previous 28 years when I didn't UV clean my brushes. I never use the additional settings that the brush offers either. You can set it to either the normal 'clean' setting, 'sensitive', or 'massage'. There's also another setting for 'go care', or 'max care'. I can't remember what go care does but the max care sets the toothbrush for a normal 2 minute clean as well as a 1 minute gum massage setting.
In summary, if you want all of the additional features it's a fantastic toothbrush and probably worth the additional price to you. If you want a straightforward toothbrush without all of the settings or cleaner I think you could save some money and get one of the other soniccare brushes.
