Product Reviews of Philips Norelco arcitec 1050 Men's ShaverProduct Review: Best Norelco in 45 years of shaving Summary: 5 Stars
I don't know what's wrong with these other guys, but I got a 1050X for Christmas, and I have NEVER had a shave with an electric shaver as close and smooth as this one - and I've had ONLY Norelco shavers for the 45+ years that I've been shaving.
The 1050X is lightweight, easy to hold, and the heads move so effortlessly to the contours of my face that it's really a pleasure to use. I can only guess that the negative reviews that I see here were made by some shills from Braun. Try it, you WILL like it. If not, you can always get your money back selling it here on Amazon.
Product Review: Best Rotary Shaver ever produced Summary: 5 Stars
I cannot believe some of the negative reviews on this product. Heck, one said the head no longer floats, and another said it was the noisiest shaver. These two comments could not be further from the truth. I would even say it is probably the quietest shaver I have ever heard in the last 40 years, and the head actually floats both at the body of the shaver, and the actual head. It truly shaves every nook and cranny of your face with a light touch.
The shaver also can give you about 16 good shaves per charge. If you charge it up before you go out of town, (it only takes an hour for full charge) you are good for two weeks.
I also like the locking feature so the razor cannot accidently be running in your suitcase.
The trimmer is a little small, but adequate. And no, you do not end up cutting your hair as some have reported.
This is beyond a shadow of a doubt the best razor norelco has ever made, and I have used many of them over the years. I actually look forward to shaving with it, IT IS THAT GOOD!!!
Product Review: Best Shaver I Have ever used Summary: 4 Stars
I have bought a Norelco Shaver every year for the past 6 years. The Arcitec is the best shaver ever released by Norelco. It puts the 9190XL/9195XL, which was the big boy on the block back in 2006, to shame. Its no longer the king of shavers, The Arcitec is the new king of shavers.
First of all, the design is beauitful, even for the low-end model(1050). You'll get a nicer design if you get the 1090, but I would never spend more than 150-175 on a shaver(i bought the 1050 for 129.99 when it was on sale, thats the sweetspot for this shaver... so wait till it hits that mark).
Philips really put some thought in the design of the shaver. The head does not stick to the body anymore like the previous shavers. This gives the ability for the shaver to shave along with the contour shape of your face. This allows for a smother shave and I can say this...IT FINALLY GIVES THE NECK/THROAT HAIR A GOOOOD SHAVE. The problem with the other Norelco shavers was that the neck was the hardest part to shave, but the Arcitec does a great job of shaving the neck hair and I give credit to the new head design for it.
Other pros about the shaver its very lightweight. Gripping the shaver is very smooth and pleasing. It comes with a cool looking black case as well.
The only con about the Arcitec is the trimmer. But I never used the trimmer on my Norelco's. I have a Sharper Image trimmer for the back of my hair and sideburn hair. If your into grooming, you know by now you need a trimmer and a shaver.
I gave it four stars because it is the first generation of shavers with the new head. They will improve on this design in 2008 and beyond, so it would be foolish of me to give a first generation shaver five stars when I know their is so much potential for improvement on this particular line of shavers.
Product Review: Best electric shaver I've ever used Summary: 5 Stars
This is the first rotary shaver I've owned, and it is by far the most comfortable shaver I've ever used. I have very curly whiskers, so they're essentially flat ribbons that tend to confound normally-shaped shavers and make it difficult for me to get a close shave when using a razor. With this shaver, I can go in a circular motion, much more easily catching the whiskers on any part of my face or neck. While I need to use a pre-shave (like Lectric Shave), I've needed that for every shaver I've used.
Cleaning is much easier with this one than any other I've used. Simply open the heads and rinse with hot water. I previously used a Braun Activator, which was self-cleaning but required special cleaning cartridges that cost anywhere from $8 - $12 for a 2-pack; over 4 years of use and regular cleaning, that brought the total cost of ownership of the unit to at least twice what I initially paid for it.
The only caveat with this shaver is the tiny trimmer; since I only use it for my sideburns it isn't a big deal for me. However, if you have a moustache and/or beard you need to trim, you might need a separate trimmer.
Overall I believe this is an excellent shaver for the price.
Product Review: Best shave ever. Summary: 5 Stars
My husband has used electric razors for many years and says this Philips norelco is absolutely the best he has encountered. The ARCITEC gives the closest shaves and is easier to clean than others. He would definitely recommend it to other men.
