I usually use hair trimmers to trim my beard but tried the Norelco T780. The trim guides were useless unless you want a 1/4 inch beard or shorter, and had to go over area's repeatedly to get this to cut anything.Product Review: Excellent Trimmer

No need to pay extra for the next step up. This trimmer is a good value. The only limitation is my husband has difficulty in trimming near his nose. This Philips Norelco T780 is an excellent value and performs quietly and effortlessly. The vacuum device works very well removing stubble and storing it in an easy-to-remove chamber. The dial adjustment allows for everything from a mere stubble to a well-groomed longer beard or moustache. I purchased this for $25.00 on Amazon with free shipping and it sells at WalMart for $56.00. As several other reviewers have noted, the vacuum feature is only so-so. However, the trimmer works great and provides an excellent range of lengths to choose from. The top is also removable for a close trim or edge trimming of sideburns or a long mustache.Product Review: Fine....but could be a lot better

I've used a Norelco trimmer before and was very satisfied and so had no problems buying this one. However the vacuum no longer works as well as when I first got it (a few months ago) and the adjustable setting slips from one setting to another.....very disconcerting when it slips from a '3' or a '2' down to a '1'. My original Norelco never had that problem and I'm stumped why this product would be a step backward.
