I am not sure about following the instructions to a T but I figured out how to get the results I am looking for with my own technique. Works well for nose hair, I dont have ear hair (Yet!) so I cant tell you about that. Also works for eyebrows with guard.Product Review: Works Flawlessly Here

It's funny how we adore lush, thick hair on our heads - and promptly try to shave it off when the exact same lush hair grows in our eyebrows or nose. Ah, human vanity. I do tend to grow long, thick hair on my head - and also have thick eyebrows. For the longest time I would try just to pluck out the errant ones and let the rest alone, but finally I tried to figure out how other people handled this issue. Heck - they trim them!
The Philips Norelco trimmer works quite nicely on nose and ear areas without any attachments. You just press the blade part against whatever you want to trim, and a few seconds later it's all set. There aren't any nicks at all, no jams or problems. Both I and my boyfriend have used it for many months without any problems.
For eyebrows, there are two different sized attachments you use - one long, one short. The plastic attachment is dual sided so that you can go forward and backwards over the eyebrows to trim them down to your desired length. There's really no way to "go wrong" - the hairs will only be trimmed to the set length, and never any shorter.
We've used this for quite a while and have never had any issues with it at all. It works like a charm and does exactly what it should. Highly recommended.

This product worked well for a couple of weeks, then suddenly on about my sixth use, it would not turn on. Defective, not damaged. Returned the item to Amazon, and they sent a free replacement. Same defect -- stopped running after two uses. Don't waste your time.Product Review: Not working anymore

My husband only used it less than 5 times then it didn't work anymore. We couldn't return to amazon because it has passed the 30days return policy but this product has the 60days money back warranty, we shipped it to the manufacturer. So far we still haven't received our money yet. It has been 2 weeks now.
The trimmer itself is more convenient than using scissors but you need to insert it deeper which is not comfortable.
Update: I received the check from the company already. Phew! It's a full refund.
