The grooming system is good for maintaining a beard. The small shaver is good for removing growth in the parts of the face that you do not want bearded. The trimming system (a small and a large trimmer) are good for trimming beard edges. The large trimmer has a calibrated comb that allows you to trim the hair on the top of the head. That is good for cutting down the number of haircuts that you need. With another setting you can also trim the beard (I wear a fairly short facial beard) The nose and ear hair trimmer works, but not perfectly. It is noisy when you trim in the ears - I was nervous whether there was the potential of damaging hearing. It also requires many passes to get at all the hairs. I use the small trimmer initially to remove long hears and then I follow up with the nose and ear trimmer. The charger is not a hi-tech charger. I purchased the Norelco G370 about 2.5 years ago, and it was a faithful trimmer. I used the device about twice a week, to shave and trim my beard, sideburns, and neck line.
Pros:
The floating head design on the trimmer nicely contours the face. It produced an even shave, and could be configured to do a complete job.
The multiple attachments are useful, but I really only used it as a trimmer and to square my hairline.
It was reliable for the time of use, it ended up costing about five dollars a year for my use.
Powerful enough to trim a thick beard, but nimble enough to do fine details.
The device is well contoured, so it is easy to use.
Simple to operate, charge, and maintain.
Battery had good life, and would give an excellent shave when charged.
Blades were sharp, and cleaning for the most part was a simple tap into the trash.
Cons:
The battery life was reliable, but was starting to get worse as the device aged, which is understandable in terms of drain. It went from about five to six saves to two to three shaves over its life cycle.
There is not place to store the attachments, I used a small plastic box.
It is difficult to clean out the snap on head and motor, and without doing so the quality of the power degrades.
Every once in a while it would stop and pinch a hair, especially if the battery is dying.
There was no way to replace the battery, since it could not be detached, it had a tendency to turn on in luggage (normally I would rubber band the switch to prevent it from dying out on trips so I would not have to recharge it, always bring your charger). CANNOT BE USED WITHOUT BATTERY CHARGE, NO WALL PLUG IN USE.
If pushed the nine-way adjustable shaver mechanism will slip, it could affect the length of shave, so using it gingerly is recommended. It never did this mid-shave, but a few times it changed levels on impact in the drawer, or by push, had I not checked, I would have been giving myself more of a trim than desired. ALWAYS CHECK TRIM THE LEVEL BEFORE USE.
Device is slippery when wet.
