This is a consumer level clipper that has the same features and add-ons found in most clippers available and marketed for home hair cuts. It is somewhat quieter and lighter, but at the same time lacks that tough barbershop feel that most people will be used to using. It cuts just as well as any clipper I have used in the past and has since replaced our old clipper.
The DVD though... THAT was helpful. When you think about it, most people including myself have no clue how to cut hair. Tossing the disc in made it pretty easy to bang out a good haircut. A definite plus.
The kids clipper aspect doesn't really seem to hold much weight for us. It was never the clipper our kids feared, it was sitting still and getting their hair cut. Since the box lacked restraints, it's safe to say the DVD is what makes this product stand out.

Included is a Philips Norelco DVD to help you and your child prepare for a fun hair cutting experience together.The Philips Kids Clipper is the first hair clipper that is really designed for kids and made for moms. The Kids Clipper is designed to make the child feel at ease, while giving maximum control to the mother. It is ultra quiet, which is especially important when cutting around the ears. The clipper has a powerful Lithium Ion battery that charges in 8 hours and delivers enough power for over 3 haircuts (45 minutes of running time). Even if the battery is drained, the clipper can still be used corded.
