Very quiet and reliable performance. The pop-up rinse and clean shaving head makes it a breeze to keep it in good shape for the next shave. I've always liked the Norelco rotary shaving system but decided to try a more expensive, top rated foil shaver and it was no match for me. I ended up sending it back for a refund and purchased this Norelco instead. They say foil shavers offer a closer shave but not for my beard. Product Review: Excellent shave

I've owned norelcos in the past. This is the best of them. It has a closeness adjuster which really works. It provides a very comfortable shave and the cleanup is easy. What more could you want to accomplish a necessary but not always pleasant chore.Product Review: not as good as I expected

My old Norelco severed me for almost 10 years and stopped working latterly since batteries are absolutely died. I decided to buy this one since it is a top model in new Norelco series and got 1) so called `SmartTouch' Reflex Action System 2) rinse clean.
Now I have used it for over a month and feel a little disappointed. The biggest problem is the hair chamber isn't very well sealed so while shaving the chopped hair will fly over on my hand, on floor. If don't clean out the hair after use it can become very irritating on next shave (even rinse after each use still cannot totally keep it from happening). Another thing is that SmartTouch, I have to say I cannot tell anything good about it except a feeling of fragileness.
Overall: it is a decent shaver and does its job. You HAVE TO rinse it clean EVERY TIME.

Amazon had this at a very good price, so I jumped on it. I have an older Norelco, and this one wasn't all that much more expensive than a new set of cutters. I've had it for almost exactly a month, and it's still got one bar left on the original charge. I've been using it every day, sometimes twice a day. The Speed-XL heads seem to work better than my previous 5 year old model. It's still not perfect, but I get a close shave, and I can shave again without fear of cutting myself.
I do have a few gripes, but they are rather small. On several occasions I have released the head while shaving. The button is just too easy to press on accident. It's no big deal, but annoying. Also, the trimmer is spring loaded and pops out when released. That's fine, but you have to push it down when done. I preferred my older model that had a thumb slide so I could easily extend or retract it with one thumb motion. Also, the shape of the shaver prevents it from resting on it's back. I don't really use the stand, and it tries to roll out of my medicine cabinet every time I set it down after using it.
It does use the same power adapter as my previous shaver, but the stand is slightly different. And it comes with a semi-rigid case that looks great for carrying it while traveling, though it doesn't hold the power adapter.
Overall, I'm very happy with the shaver and would highly recommend it for anybody trying out an electric.
