I bought this razor to replace a clunky Remington which had been a big disappointment. The Norelco is a breath of fresh air: it shaves very well, is nicely balanced in the hand, and is stylishly designed. It shaves tough spots-- like under the nose and around the adam's apple--effortlessly and comfortably. Being able to rinse it out after shaving is a nice bonus. As always, Amazon delivered the product in record time. I've been using it now for about 3 weeks and feel it was a good buy. It's extremely quiet which was not something I was accustomed too. It does an excellent job and I'm pleased with it. I especially like the ability to clean it under the facuet without having to buy expensive cleaning solvent! Plus, it can be used as a "corded shaver" that my old one was not capable of. At this point, I would have to say that I'd buy it again. The only "down side" I can think of is that it doesn't display the remaining time of the battery. But, I knew that going in and since it also functions as a corded razor - that's really not an issue. This is my 4th Norelco shaver and it is the best yet.
It is an exceptionally quiet shaver. There is more sound from shaving than the motor itself.
The shave is very comfortable. Shaving heads have cushioning and the floating mechanism allows for a very close and comfortable shave. It's also easy to clean. With my earlier Norelco's the process was daunting enough to make me lazy. With the 7140, it's easy enough to do after every shave.
I have been using it for a month and have not had to charge it.

I was not comfortable buying one of these rotary-type shavers for many years. However, I've been disappointed with the results of foil shavers and price increases over the past several years so decided to give Norelco a try. I find myself pleasantly surprised. Good shave with less skin irritation vs. my older foil shaver. Takes about the same time but shave is comfortable and close. Was easier to get under nose and trim sideburns with a foil but not too bad with the Norelco. Only real down side would be if you are going to use this cordless. The rechargeable battery in the 7140 is the old "memory" type which won't last you all that long. Since I use mine corded this is a none issue for me, but is worth mentioning here. Personally quite pleased with my 7140XL. Will likely stick with the brand for many years.
