Product Review: Good Statrter Razor Summary: 4 Stars
I received my razor a few days earlier than expected, which was a plus for the shipping! I have been using it for 3 weeks now, and I must say that overall I am pleased with its performance. I have heard a lot of negative things about these razors, but based on mine, it seems to be unfounded. If nothing else, I think the Parker 22R makes an excellent starter razor for someone wanting to learn how to shave with a DE razor.
I give it Four Stars, and would recommend it to others.
Product Review: Good as a starter razor Summary: 5 Stars
I've been looking at safety razors for a while and decided to try this as my first safety razor. It comes in a simple box with two packs of five blades. The blade package is thick cardboard and the razors are spring-loaded to slide out after you take out a cardboard cover. Blades are wrapped in paper and a few drops of glue keep the blade from sliding around inside the paper. The razor is heavy for its size and the mechanism is excellent. Because of the deep-grooved texture, it doesn't slip in your hands. There's no effort in shaving as the weight of the razor does the work. The shave itself is far closer than any disposable with one pass. Because the head is large, it can be tricky shaving around my beard and I don't know how it'd handle under the nose. I can only use a disposable a few times because my beard hair clogs it but this isn't a problem; the gap between the razor guide rail and the blade was enough that it never clogged, and if it did, I could have opened the razor to wash out the hairs. I don't see myself wanting to use disposable razors ever again.
Product Review: Good beginner's handle Summary: 4 Stars
This is the first razor I used for working with a safety razor. My first few shaves were a little rough, but that was in part because I was still getting accustomed to the shorter handle, the heavier weight, and the sharper, more delicate shaving process. Having used this handle for roughly a month now, I can say that I am very happy with it. It takes getting used to, but once that's done, it's works wonderfully. It has good balance. However, the handle could be a bit longer.
Product Review: Good construction, crappy results Summary: 4 Stars
My first double edge razor. I've always had tough hair so I go through blades quickly. Was so happy when I got this because cartridge blades are getting pathetic in price.
The blades are too far from the edge, so I really have to push to get it close, or change the angle. When I change the angle I cut skin or get some wicked razor burn.
This does not get every hair very well, so I tried going against the grain.
That seemed to get everything but got some bad razor burn. I've always had to go against the grain on any razor I've had to get everything.
Easier to clean out than a Mach 3 Turbo(which I've used for years), which is nice on time. Construction on this is really neat. Very durable metal, easy to change blades. Just wish it had a storage case or cap.
