Bought this razor in the hope that it would give me a closer shave and would hold an edge better than any other disposable that I have purchased.Once I found the proper angle to hold my razor I get a closer shave with little to no razor burns on my head and face.Product Review: Best shave EVER!

For years I have done everything I can to avoid shaving. I hated it! It was always a chore. I was like a kid at the doctor's office squirming and waiting for the examination to end. When I discovered the Safety Razor I figured I'd give it a try. It was tricky at first but I was patient and I grew to love it. Shaving is an art form and I am it's artist! I have never had such a clean shave. With the new "stylized" electric and throw away razors I was always left with a five o' clock shadow after a few hours. With the safety razor I'm good for two days. Here's a word of warning. You must be extremely careful. The safety razor can cut deeper than the modern razors. Take your time and develop your skill. This was my first foray into wetshaving. I did my first shave pretty much completely wrong. I didn't take my time, didn't soak my beard, barely analyzed the grain of my beard, etc. This still gave me a closer shave than the Mach 3 or the Fusion. No cuts, but my razor burn is a little worse than usual. I'm confident that'll change once I'm used to a DE.Product Review: Best shave ever

I had not used a double edge safety razor since college( 45 years ago). At that time the standard was the Gillette " blue blade ". I can not believe the money and time I wasted on the supposedly new
and better shaving systems since then. The first time I lathered-up
and tried my new Parker with the Shark blade that came with it I stopped to make sure that I had inserted the blade correctly- I
could not feel anything - it was so smooth I did not think it was working. I will never go back to the 3,4 or how ever many blade
systems being marketed as "the best". This is one daily grooming
exercise that time and "progress" has not made better.

This is my first "safety razor". Being sick and tired of the expensive razors and refills I am happy to find this. I am no "connoisseur" of razors but the Parker 22R has given me the closest shave I've ever had. I tried the blades that came with it and also I bought a pack from my local grocery for less than $3 and they work just fine. I was ready for some bloodletting but if used with caution, it shaves great although I really have nothing to compare. The first day I had a couple of tiny nicks but after rubbing my face with alcohol and screaming, I was very pleased with the result. I do notice that if I don't use something after, I get a little razor burn but maybe I don't have my technique down yet, but a quick once over with alcohol (doesn't hurt so bad anymore) and a little aftershave and I'm in tall cotton!
