Product Reviews of Panasonic ES8103S Men's 3-Blade (Arc 3) Wet/Dry Rechargeable Electric Shaver with Nanotech Blades, SilverProduct Review: Big positives; big negatives Summary: 3 Stars
I've owned this and other Panasonics for years, and they're the best electrics I've ever used. I'm pretty compulsive about shaving - I want my face to feel as if hair has never grown on it. The option to use Panasonics wet with shaving cream provides remarkably close shaves with little irritation. The "linear" feature on their higher-end models is excellent, moving the blade so fast that the the beard seems to evaporate. I've used Brauns and Remingtons in the past - and liked them - but my first Panasonic made me a convert, and the upgrade to linear deepened my enthusiasm. The curving, pivoting, "soft" shaving head makes it conform to various parts of the face with minimal irritation. When you need precision, a switch lets you lock the head. As electric shavers go, it's pretty quiet.
I've owned this shaver for, maybe, 2 years. It just died. All the others I've used have also died dismayingly quickly. My guess: that's the price you pay for using it with water. Replacing them so often makes Panasonic an expensive option. On this model, the little display screen is poorly thought out. It flashes icons that are not explained in the owner's manual. Suddenly, a little faucet with a drip appears. What does it mean? Am I supposed to do something? The owner's manual gives no clue. The screen also began to malfunction pretty quickly. It died completely a week or so before the shaver croaked. There is no option to use the shaver with a cord, so if it runs out of juice, you can't plug it in and continue. But - five or ten minutes of charging will be enough to let you finish - and a complete charge is pretty quick, too. Like other such models, the cleaning base is a nuisance and, to my mind, a negative rather than a positive. If you go on a trip, you have to pack the bulky base, too.
Product Review: Clean and Smooth Summary: 4 Stars
This is a remarkable hand held whisker mower!! Once out of the box, it was charged and ready to run in under an hour. The motor is very quiet but this is truly a men's razor!! It leaves no whisker behind in no time at all. Wet or Dry, this is a terrific electric razor!
Product Review: Close Shave Summary: 5 Stars
I have used different electric razors through the years and this is the first that I have used that gave me a very close shave on 3 days growth in half the time of others. Clean up is very easy, a drop of liquid soap and a little water on turbo clean and a quick rinse. Can't get much easier. I switched from a Braun of 4 years after my base unit would no longer lock down for cleaning or charging. I used tape to hold it down for 2 years. I wish I would have switched a long time ago.
If you are debating on getting another razor, get this one. You won't be disappointed.
Product Review: Close Shave Summary: 5 Stars
I've own Braun shavers for years. When my Braun died decided to give Panasonic a try. I'm glad I did ,the best shave I've ever had. Buy this shaver you won't be disapointed.
Product Review: Close, Smooth Shave Summary: 5 Stars
Best feature of this shaver is the close, pain-free, smooth shave. I would say 99% as smooth as razor, the difference is nominal (Can't tell the difference visually). I have a thick, tough beard and the Panasonic breezes through in very few passes. I get even better results on shaving the mustache, compared with my razor. The neck area is where the shaver has some difficultly, although I think it may be because the shaving cream has a tendency to wash off in the shower. After a second application of cream I can get as close. No razor burn, no in-grown hairs (I do get these with razors). It takes a few extra minutes to complete the shave compared to razor (maybe 7-8 min vs. 5-6 min). All in all I am pleased with the experience and do not plan to move back to razor.
