This is a great product, but even with greatness comes caveats. First thing is first, this product works but NOT right away. It took around 3 weeks for the shave to come out right, before then I looked liked a half-shaven monster. I recommend shaving right AFTER a shower, because your whiskers are standing up.
After the "conversion" to electric I am believer. Shaves are just as fast as razor and ALMOST as smooth. There are still rough spots that won't come off, but thats the tradeoff for being able to shave anywhere. I share a bathroom with 4 other people, and I can not afford to stay and shave with a razor all the time. Being able to shave in my room and just as quickly is great. I shaved for a good 10 years before I got this product, and I am just as happy as I was before.
Pros:
-convenient, shave anywhere easily
-save money on razors and shaving cream( although you can use shaving cream, there really is no difference)
-relatively cheap for a high quality electric
-easy to clean using soap and water under a tap
-less irritation in long run
Cons
-not as smooth as a razor, might still have spots
-adapting takes time, up to 4 weeks
- need to "rub" your skin with the electric for it to work(can be irritation for some, but eventually it feels smoother)
-doesn't work that well in shower
One last recommendation is to use some sort of finishing lotion to make your face feel better after a shave.

I have tried at least six electric shavers of four different brands over the years, and always return to blades. It seems that all shavers are great out of the box, then within a couple of weeks, seem less than ideal as the cutting heads begin to dull.
I have used this one for six months now, and I almost didn't buy it because it is made in CHINA, and I am on a boycott anything I can from China kick.I can honestly say that after six months I am as happy with the shaver as I was the first time. I have used it both wet and dry and love it both ways. Before buying this one, I would "dry shave" with a blade after using my Braun shaver to get what was missed.
My two complaints are that it is Chinese made, and after six months, the automatic cleaning base no longer works, so I rinse it under the faucet now. I guess my "China equals junk" theory will be realized sooner rather than later, but the shaver still works great.....for now.

I've only had and been using this for about 3 weeks now from this review. I can't say too much as far as durability and longevity.
What I can say is, it's allowed me to shave more often with more comfort. Previously, I was trying to shave as infrequently as I could get away with due to my facial hairs being so thick. I don't have it Grizzly Adams style, but what I do have is thick. I typically would have to wait a few days so that shaving with a regular razor would be easy on my skin and therefore, less painful.
This may not be as close as a blade, but dangit if it doesn't give me about a 95%+ close shave. It actually takes me longer to shave with this I believe then the old way of doing things, but that may improve the more I use it. And do as the manual suggests and give your face some time to adjust to the "new" method of shaving.
I haven't needed to use the cleaning cartridge yet, but I imagine I will because I have hard water. As of now, I just rinse it out under the tap. I purchased this for using on vacation, but I think I'll end up using this much more regularly and perhaps it will one day replace regular razors for me.

I bought the ES8078S at the beginning of December and let me tell you I will not go back to blades again. This electric razor has been flawless. On my face, it truly does shave closer than a blade. I can now shave everyday instead of every other day I would shave with the blade due to sensitive skin. I am still shaving on the initial charge and couldn't be happier with the battery's stamina. I do use the Hydra Cleaning System everyday so in the morning the razor is always fresh and clean. The Hydra Cleaning System does a great job and the cleaning cartridges last about 30 days. I just changed out my 1st one today. I have nothing bad to say about this razor...It is a masterpiece! Buy this razor; you can't beat the price and you can't beat this razor!!!
